i have a jdm ek4 sir civic i did an engine job in january.upgraded whole vale train to skunk 2 stage 2 cams springs and retainers been getting error code 23 knock sensor eversince. now three sensors later same problem. iam frustrated and pissed i reset the ecu manualy and also with a launch scan tool the code keeps coming up....can any one help
The sensor almost never goes bad, check the pin connection. The two pin round honda connectors don't tend to seat right and the pins occaisionally back out. Make sure the pin is in the right hole, and the knock sensor only uses one wire, some people cut off a clip and the wire is in the top clip, and that will give you your code, only other explanation for that is a broken wire from the knk sensor to the PCM, its the only place it goes to.
EDIT: if your valvetrain is making an excessive amount of noise/vibration, this could trigger the knock sensor inadvertantly, you might need to disable the knock sensor and get it tuned so that you don't knock.
