SRI v/s just no resonator
I am wondering if anyone has tried this yet and could get some feedback before I rip things apart.
What difference can I expect in installing an intake in my 6th gen 4cyl accord versus simply removing the resonator and still keeping the stock air filter box, filter and intake pipe ?
I like the idea about the air box being able to suck in air straight from the bumper area (thats where the resonator was). But I realize it is a smaller overall air volume as compared to a full blown CAI or SRI.
Do you think its worth trying ?

the difference will be extremely small, if any.
i took out all my resonator stuff, cut a large hole at the bottom of my airbox, and bought a k&n drop in filter.
works for me..

I was thinking about that too since the hole at the bottom of the airbox is very small but then if I do that it will suck in air from the engine bay which I really want to avoid.

Nope. No love. Replaced my Diy SRI with the stock air box but no resonator and the car feels like its begging for air when I accelerate. The sound changed dramatically too.
I had made a sri using an AEM Dryflow 3" filter attached to an extension that goes into the stock tube/pipe and it is a lot better than the stock box especially at higher rpms. I think I am going to go with serious CAI.
