PEANUT BUTTER JELLLY TIMMMMEEE!
So I recently picked up a set of rims from a buddy of mine. He used them as track & street rims and when I got them they were quite dirty.
After seeing the results that were achieved by Type X with his PB experiment I thought it would be a perfect opportunity to try it on my rims since they were definitely in need of some TLC!
This is what the rims looked like before I started the cleaning process

The Steps:
First I started by spraying down the rims with water.
Next I sprayed on some Meguiar’s Hot Rims All Wheel Cleaner, let it sit for a bit and then hosed them down again.

Due to having numerous tires mounted on the rims, there was a lot of two sided tape stuck on the inside of the rims which I wanted to remove.

So I got a sponge, gloves and some Goo Gone and went to work.

Used some soapy water and a rim brush to clean the rims one more time before it was PB time!
This is what the rims looked like before the PB application.

As you can see, there is some oxidation that did not want to come off even after all the cleaning I had done.
Before I started the whole process I had gone to A&P and picked up some cheap PB.

So on with the experiment…
I thoroughly coated the rims in sets of two. When I was finished with the second rim, I grabbed the garden hose and sprayed off the PB from the first rim. Then I took a rag and wiped down any excess residue. I then did the same with the second rim. I used a spoon to get the PB out of the container and a 4” wax applicator to apply it.

Here is the finished product.

The rim in the foreground has been PB’ed while the one in the background has not. I know the picture blows, but if you’d see them in real life you could really see the difference. The white oxidation is totally gone and they shine like they are brand new!
