what floor jack do you guys use/recommend?
im on my second craftsman 2 ton aluminum floor jack, and just like the first this one is on its way out. they replaced the first one with this one, but ive had this one for over 1 year and i dont think theyll be preplacing it.
what do you guys use or recommend. any other brands out that that have a similar design? i really like the design of the craftsman one i have. i would like it to be low profile, but it doesnt have to be lightweight. i dont do much racing anymore so it wont need to be transprted much.

I've got a Harbor Freight Al jack. It was $80, and has worked well for almost a year. I'd get the larger one from HF, its like $140, and has rapid-pump, and its deeper.
Barring that, one of the 4-ton craftsman ones would be nice, as its f-ing huge, and very stable, although it is a little high.

i just recently bought the same HF 80 jack this morning. i used it to jack up the car but im kind of dissapointed. its doesnt jack high enough for me, and its pretty small. i considered the larger 150 dollar one, but i thought to myself, i only work on hondas so my cars arent that big to begin with. i was wrong.
anyone have any experiences with the larger HF aluminum jacks? ill be taking the small one back tomorrow in search of a new jack.
also does any one have this carftsman jack?

weighs- 105
capacity- 4000 lbs
min height- 3 15/16"
max height- 21"
at $140 it seems like a nice deal. but are all the craftsman jacks junk?

the craftsmen jack is garbage. ive owned 3 and all three broke within a six month period. the Hf 80.00 racing jack is good once it is broken-in. it raises the car up hi enough to get under it and do what i need to do the bigger HF racing jack for 140.00 rasies it a bit higher but honestly i feel the smaller one will do for now. if you want a real good jack unfortunatly your only real option is to get a snap-on, mac, or matco jack i they break lifetime warrenty so they will fix it or replace it for you well thats my opinion. oh yea i almost forgot when getting a jack get one with 4 wheels not three 4 wheels is more stable then 3 so it is safer. the last thing you want is a jack to fall with u under it
I have a craftsman AL jack that ive been using for over 2 years now..never had a problem with it and i love it since its lightweight and i have to move it around and pick it up a lot.
I got the HF $60 dollar aluminum racing jack special and it's been good to me for a couple years now....the only problem with it is the single wheel in the front seized up on me, a little penetrating oil fixed that though. Doesn't lift all that high but it's super low to get under slammed cars.
harbor freight has another low profile jack that lifts really high..its black,3 ton, heavy duty
edit- http://www.harborfreight.com/c...94629 i personally have 2 of those and 2 of these http://www.harborfreight.com/c...34271 been using them for about 10 years now

I bought my AL jack at Sams Club for $60 I've had it for 3 years now. I like it because its low and light but its very Fragile and in my shop I dont think it will last 6 months.
For a shop and if you have people using it that did not pay for the jack their going to brake it, you need something heavy duty.

all 3 of my craftsman died with in a year. my harbor freight which I expected to last a few months has been a champ for over 2 years I dont trust it at all though Im expecting it fail here shortly but thats why they made jack stands. Now that I said I expect it to fail it will last 5 more years

My craftsman jack took a **** in about 3 months. I have a Matco now that is pretty nice, and a michelin jack from Sams that's ok.
Craftsman jacks stink. I just bought a Torin service jack for $100 at pepboys. Its 3.5 ton, lifts 22", and is low-profile. I recommend it.
Personally, I prefer the older USA made Lincoln jacks, they are basically indestructable, and if the pump ever fails, its easy to have repaired. The downside is, teh jack weighs a ton, but it picks up my F350 diesel truck, and the rest of the crapps jacks I've tried usually break trying to do that.

As my craftsman aluminum 1.5ton also took a **** on me after a year of very light and occasional use, I am looking for a good quality jack that will last a long time. I dont mind paying $200 as long as its going to last.
