vtec question about ecu's

i have a 1993 honda civic dx, i want to throw a Y8 vtec head on there, is it possible to just modify my ECU to understand vtec or?

Yes, you can convert a nonvtec ECU to vtec, but it's easier to just buy a P28 (already sohc vtec).
