Can anyone give me any info on this motor?? I have a chance to pick it up pretty
cheap and need to know any details (specs) on it. Is it VTEC?? what car it came
from (i was told 96-98 civic). I want to put in an 88 CRX Si, the head is missing
so i have no idea if it was vtec.......... i know the D16Y8 was vtec, so i need to
know about this one........

 

never heard of a d16y6?? the head ur looking for would be from a d16y8 (96up ex motor) or a d16z6 (92-95 ex/si motor). not sure on the hx motor's designation i guess it could be d16y6 but u want the other heads not the hx it doesn't have normal vtec it has vtec e which is tuned more for economy than performance.

 

there's a d16y7...and that's the 96-00 (?) dx non vtec engine...
