Default Box connected to air filter

i just wanted to know what the box that is on the passenger side that is connected to the air filter pipe is used for?

That box, like others have said, holds your air filter in place as well as directs the air flow through the filter. I guess you could take it out of the box and duct tape it to the intake arm if you dont like the way its built.

The duct tape will aslo aid in capturing more dirt/debris, wrap it up nice and tight and then do a few times around with the sticky side up

or just take evrything off completely and put a velocity stack on the throttle body..just watch out you might suck up small children =]
