Default sandrail fabrication & shop tour **56k warning 76 pictures**

We went out to the shop today to **** around on the buggy and visit, i brought my good camera this time so i took lots of pics.

fabricating a wheelie bar
This is what my dad and my 13 year old brother were doing when we showed up. my dad's the big guy and my brother is the white kid with his pants around his ankles...

and now for a bit of a tour
i started taking random pics of the shop and the yard, some of the old toys that are sitting outside. some old trikes for parts and projects, some in running condition that are used for winter ice racing on the river.

we haven't really had any cooling related issues, and i'm not sure with the draw through setup that an intercooler would be a good idea because of the air fuel mixture having a place to puddle.

Be careful boosting the stock T4 engine, the pistons are REALLY weak. Make sure you are running a head temp gauge so you can keep an eye on cylinder head temps. It sucks when the valve seats fall out of the head.

it's not a stock type 4. it's got the stroker kit and a bunch of other stuff done to it.

i actually kind of hope that the heads fail that way he has an excuse to put the 12000rpm cam in it and upgraded heads. heh

Hope your not running 103mm pistons and cylinders. If you stick with turbocharging go with a T1 the are stronger. There aren't really any decent options for heads. Be careful who you buy cam and lifters from. The T4 has a problem with cams going flat when using after market cams. The stock cams suck, the make the heads run hot.

Looks like you could build/fab just about anything in that shop...

....on a side note. Is it weird that I had the theme from Sanford and Son going through my mind as I was reading this thread?

naw not really, it's admittedly redneck. the only things we would really like to have are a lathe and a plasma cutter.

dad keeps pestering me to buy a plasma cutter because HE wants one.. he wants me to leave it at his shop, as i have done with my tig. so that he can use it whenever he wants. lol. ****** cheapskate.
