Why is the lude so unpopular?
i see tons of people selling their ludes for an integra or civic. and theyre being sold for rediculously cheap!
the parts are pretty hard to find whereas civic/integras there is everything you can imagine made for them.

the first thing MOST people point out is the wieght, also the inability of people to go against the grain, F&F didn't have an preludes in it.
its not good looking to everyone
the H series motor seemed to be in the shadow of the ever popular B series until recently.
when they were introduced they were priced pretty high it just until recently people could really get a hold of them on a budget.
also the general populace see a modded honda and things Civic/integra I can't count the number of times I have been told "nice car... what model civic/teg is that..." hell I've even had civic written on a few of my tickets before from cops.

A Civic or Teg is the number one car for ricers and tuners, so there is a ton of stuff for them. So yes, compared to a Civic, a Prelude is unpopular. Get out of your little Civic/Teg world, and compare it to all other car models available and the Prelude is pretty damn popular. I can find most anything for my 4th gen Prelude.

most complaints is the weight but if u do power to weight ratio, the prelude is still higher than the civic si's

There are lots of reasons, Preludes are deemed as more of a luxury model where as Civic's and Integra's are more economy cars (minus the Type-R, GSR).
In those cars you get better gas mileage and they are lighter, smaller and cheaper (both tuning and the car itself) which means a bigger youth market.

the few the proud!
I saw pink episode on speed channel, a crx (which is same civic) had H22 motor? y put h22 motors not b series motors? it means H22 is better then.
Also, prelude has higher value when you resale it.

the prelude (5th gens imo) is the sports coupe that paved the way for the s2000. its a luxury coupe which was rarer than the econo-box civics and integras. and back then how many coupes had nice designs? there were no smooth designs like G35,350z, audiTT, M3 around. I can think of 240sx(S14) and when the boxiness was beginning to get rounded out on M3s..
i'd say theyre popular cuz theyre holding their prices.. in CA the lowest i've seen is 5000$ and highest at like 10-12k. original MSRP was like 25-26k right? (i was too young to remember, only 7 at the time the 5th gen came out) thats pretty darn SOLID considering out the door they already lose a few thousand and each owner /more miles a little more..

Part of the reason why there isn't an exuberant amount of parts for the Preludes is because 90% of the racing scene revolves around Civics and Integras. How many Hot Rod Preludes are out there? Or even SFWD class? I can count them on my one hand. (Oaks and md23vtec)
Besides, most external parts are universal if you know what you're doing. But for motor specific items like header, cams, intake manifolds, etc...you have a ton of choices out there. Stop looking at Ebay!

I've only seen it twice, but I'm almost positive it's a 5th gen. I had to rewind it twice just to confirm that it was a prelude at all.

Prelude's are also harder to work on that Integra's and Civic's. I think part of the popularity for the Civic/Integra is due to how easy they are to work on.

and it seems the majority of the prelude forum still lacks that intelligence. Hell, I lack it most of the time.
The prelude was unpopular from the get go. It was unpopular because it was different. People didn't like the dash or the digital gauges. It was a change and people do not like change

I get it all the time, "what year is that" and "nice car" and my favorite is when a friends dad says something along the lines of "oooo I remember those" or I always wanted one". Its definatly one car I will hold onto as long as I can.
I find it a little funny that the prelude is a little less popular in comparison to civics and integras, but people still give many positive remarks about the car. I love it when people compliment the car and ask me what in the world it is.
