NEED IMMEDIATE HELP !!!
OK SO I READ EVERYWHERE THAT ROYAL PURPLE SYNCROMAX WILL FIX MY STICKY 3RD GEAR. SO I WENT TO MY LOCAL SHOP THIS MORNING AND BOUGHT 3 QUARTS($33) WENT TO MY LOCAL LUBE SHOP AND ASKED THEM TO PUT IT IN AND THEY REFUSED BECAUSE IT WASNT OEM, WENT TO A LOCAL JIFFY LUBE THEY ALSO REFUSED, BOTH PLACES SAID THEY DONT HAVE THE PUMP THAT IS NEEDED TO FILL THE SYNCROMAX. THEN I CALLED MY LOCAL HONDA DEALER AND ASKED THEM ABOUT ROYAL PURPLE SYNCROMAX AND THEY SAID I WOULD BE CRAZY TO PUT THAT IN MY CAR... SO IM FRICKIN LOST HERE. IM GOIN TO THE TRACK TOMORROW AND I WANNA HAVE IT IN MY CAR B4 I GO. HERE ARE MY QUESTIONS.
1. IS IT BAD TO USE ROYAL PURPLE SYNCROMAX IN MY 2006 CIVIC SI?
2. HOW MANY QUARTS SHOULD IT TAKE?
3. WHAT KIND OF PUMP DO I NEED TO MAKE THIS WORK?
4. CAN I DO IT MYSELF?
5. WILL THIS MESS WITH MY WARRANTY IN ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM?
ANY AND ALL FEEDBACK WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATES!!!!
BTW EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO JOIN ME AND MY FRIENDS AT LACR IN PALMDALE CA. HOPE SO SEE SOME OTHER SI'S THERE, THE LAST TIME I WENT WAS LAST YEAR WHEN I JUST BOUGHT HER...14.9 STOCK, GOT A COLD AIR AND LIGHTER WHEELS NOW AND IM A BETTER DRIVER SO... SHOOTIN FOR MID 14s.

Here's the link to the transmission fluid DIY

To the best of knowledge, putting that in your car will be just fine. I think alot of people have done it already, and it seems to work for them.
I don't have an SI so I can't tell you from personal experience, but I would say I'm about 99.9% sure you'll be fine.
Hope this helps.

From RP - wont post right so here is a link http://www.royalpurple.com/techa/tranxref.html
I believe its 1.7qts if I remember right
Any Trans fluid pump will work, you can get them at any parts store
Yes you can do it yourself, there is a DIY in the HOW TO Sticky Section
It in and of itself wont void the warranty, but if you screw it up somehow, and mess up your trans, then yes you will void the warranty

I used a funnel with a long hose and filled it from the engine bay. I don't have a pump either. It will take less than 2 quarts to fill it, about 1 3/4. I've been running RP Synchromax in my '07 Si for 4000 miles now with no problems.
Don't know if it is bad, I think several people on this forum use it. Honda designed the transmission to be used with a Honda fluid. Just something to keep in mind.
Should be a little under 2 quarts, check you owners manual, it will tell you there.
Don't know about the pump, sorry.
Yes, you can do it yourself, but you need to lift the car. There is a DIY for changing the tranmission fluid.
I believe if you use anything other than a Honda MTF, you take a great risk in voiding your transmission warranty. Pretty much all lube shops know this and will not assume the risk of putting anything in your car that is not approved by the manufacturer.
When I tried to have Redline put in my DX at Jiffy Lube, they told me they would not do it because their computer said something about ONLY using Honda Oil in the Transmission.

yeah, but then after designing the tranny Honda decided the MTF they made wasn't up to snuff and now produce a "new" version..
I'm running the new MTF and have for about 3k miles and I can tell a difference.. the car shifts like the day I left the lot, before it had started to become a little notchy and have other symptoms people describe..
Royal Purple should be fine.. Alot of guys in older hondas use GM syncromesh too

The new fluid came out before the first FG2 was on any lot but I imagine that the (similar) RSX-S 3rd issue among other things prompted a reformulation.
To the op, calm down with the ******* CAPS LOCK!
Your trans should take just under 2 qts of fluid, buy a $5 pump and do it yourself if you need it done requickly, theres really no way you can expletive it up. I prefer the new Honda stuff but the royal purple shouldnt cause any problems
