question regarding ground wires!!!
My buddy recently gave me a brand new set of ground wires that he purchased for his gsr. I know they're compatible for my itr, but as of now, I've only found two grounds on my motor (cylinder head and tranny- both to chassis). The set came with seven wires, each a different length in order to reach the circular-shaped copper piece that grounds them. I was dumbfounded when I looked at the instructions, which stated that six of the seven went to intake manifold, alternator, head, tranny, headlamp, and block. I THOROUGHLY searched the motor top to bottom for other grounds but couldn't find any... I even went on ebay to view similar ground wires; all sets come with seven. If anyone has any idea where the hell the five missing links are, PLEASE let me know. I got them for free. No surprise since he was disgusted with the setup. I'm feelin the same way now.
this is what i did.
valve cover to rad support.
replace neg cable from battery to chassis.
alternator to body frame.
tranny to body frame.
make sure you have a good contact to metal. you dont need to use all of them. i did this because i was sick of blowing fuses on my amp and figure it might works since i got 20 foot cable for free from circuit city. it works. no more blown amp fuses.

Well, there are two main things you should know before trying to install them. First, many of the ground/earth kits are made by Japanese companies and sized to fit JDM vehicles. Because of this, the lengths do not always properly match up when trying to install them on a LHD car. Secondly, these kits are not solely intended to replace the existing ground wires, but rather to add a number of additional grounds to the engine. Therefore, when examining your engine bay before installing the kit, you are not going to find OEM ground wires in all of the locations that are specified in the instructions.
you've been reading to many catalog.

i'll be nice and let somebody else do the beating. good luck to you sir.

And I helped to answer his question. As I stated, many of the kits are not designed for LHD vehicles. Therefore, not all of the wires (which are cut to specific lengths) will fit properly when installed in their intended locations, since the engine bay is obviously not symmetrical. I can provide you with threads addressing this very topic, taken from this very forum, if you still have difficulty grasping the concept.
I further stated that not all of the wires in the kit are intended to replace existing OEM wires, which seemed to be the main source of his confusion.

kits are universal.
theres is no specific location to put them on.
providing thread from somebody else is no good to me. i go by my experience not any body else.
wires can replace existing wires or add on.
i may not post it but i do have knowledge from building my own b series motor and etc.

Instead of adding a ton of other grounding points, replace the current ground cables with higher quality wires. And make sure they are making a good connection on both ends.
Remember kids, electricity travels through the path with the least resistance. Adding 20 other grounding points just creates unnecessary ground loops and is just plain redundant.

Not all kits are "universal". Many that are made by name-brand tuner houses (e.g., Spoon) are sized so that each wire is a certain length and is intended to fit in a certain location. That's simply a fact, regardless of where your own experience came from.
