Problem with MSD in my lv/vtec :(
Ive been using my MSD SCI ignition, and blaster SS coil for 2 yrs on my ls with no problems. And i went lsvtec (engine runs fine w/o msd) and i tried to wire my msd equipment back in and cant get the system to start up.
Here's what ive tried:
1. Re-wiring the wires to the dizzy
2. Checked and re checked plug wire location
3. Done all this numerous times
And according to the instructions i should see +12volts in the dizzy on one prong and -12volts on the one next to it. Well i get the +12 out but where the negative is susposed to be...its 55mv??? I called MSD he suggested that i wire it all up, turn the key ON positon and take the white wire from the SCI box and touch it to ground to see if i get a spark.
What else can i do?
Do i need this? http://www.shopatron.com/produ...424.0
Is it because i went from OBD2-a to a OBD1?
Set up is, 97 ls block, b16a2 head, and virgin p28 ecu

I didn't even know they made MSD ign. for OBD2 setups, but that would be the problem.
I'll also tell you something that I learned from personal experience because when I was a noob, I thought MSD was the king of ignitions. MSD ign. are faulty very often, they have bad customer service (to me) in El Paso, TX, and are not usually needed unless you're pushing 400 whp. I would put the stock ignition and coil back on if you still have it.

So because i went to obd1 that could be the issue?

Since ive had it for a long time and it works great id like to keep and use it.

What reasoning do you have to make you think it works great?
Unless you're having misfire, or problems making spark in High rpms,
You're better off selling the setup, and sticking with stock.

The reasoning i have is because it works, weather or not there was a difference in power etc dont really care. People still use grounding wires and "think" they gained hp. I plan on going supercharged soon so id like to have this up and ready.
BUT....i think the issue is, i cant get the -12 volts in the dizzy. Can anyone else who has a vtec dizzy go out and use a meter and tell me what readings they get inside the it on the blk/yellow wire and the blue/white wire?
