I love checking out the ITR section. You guys all seem close and its very interesting to read.

I am just curious to what happens to all the ITR's stolen. I am assuming stripped and sell the parts?

You guys should look into this......
http://causeforalarm.thecarthi....html

I tried finding this on H-T but the Search wouldn't work. Hope this works. I love the ITR's.

They are donated to the charity foundations.

ITRs are stolen in large number bc they have the 'best' of parts from the factory and they will basically bolt onto any number of Civics and of course, other Integras. Theives in turn sell these parts for big $$ to other losers.

to theives
and to people who buy stolen parts.

I thought your link was helpful. Maybe it was the thread title that made it silly. You should have titled your thread something like "Ways to protect your ITR" or "Prevent your ITR from being stolen" or something like that. It would be helpful in future searches.

And when the ITR's get stolen, 99% of the time they are stripped. The stolen parts are hard to recover, so I'm assuming they get used and not sold.

There are many people who buy these shells and rebuild the ITR and get put back on the streets legally or get sent for full-time track duty.

There have been many success stories on H-T on rebuilds. It's always great to read those threads.

I've heard that the R parts that come out of cars on the east coast are loaded into container ships and sent to Eastern Europe.

Not sure if that's true though, can anyone confirm?

I don´t think so... that´s true with stolen Audis, BMWs, Mercedes´ and Porsches. But not with Hondas. Here, especially in east europe, there is no market. (<- that is not meaning, that in east europa are no hondas that are stolen or have stolen/imported parts in it) ...

I actually work with a guy who came here from Russia. He's a pretty shady character as is. He has claimed in talking with him that (in his opinion) at least 60% of the cars over there where either stolen and sent there or there parts where stolen and sent there. He says the mafia types run the best car lots. He says one of the biggest things he noticed when he got to the US was that the cars didn't seem like patch jobs like they did from his home.
FWIW, I can't confirm or deny this. It's just what I heard firsthand.
