Dry burn is good to clear the rocks/dirt from that may have accumulated on your tires from the pits. Doing a long burnout in the bleach box w/ street tires is pointless--just for show. Save your tires and the time of the people behind you

i dont think that is 100% true. my best 60' ever, was after i did the longest burnout ive ever done. i got a 2.192 and that was on 5 year old street tires that are are extremely bald. now on my other set of street tires that have hella tread i cant launch worth **** even after a burnout. i klnow this dont make much sense but thats how it happened..
I have a brand new set of 205/50 Azenis sitting in my basement waiting to be put on the Rota Circuit8's. I am just burning up the AVS yoko's first. Then they are going to me installed.
Azenis like the A048's I that use have a stiff side wall that is good for circuit racing but bad for drag racing. I tried running high psi's (28,30,32) but I would always get crappy 60ft times because of spinning.
I always do a dry hop to heat the tires a little and clear debri. I ran a 2.167sec 60ft time at my last race and I know I can get down to 2.00~1.95 since my times got faster with each run. I launch at 6700rpm (Hondata controlled) with 11.5psi~12.5psi tire pressure and I do not feather the gas at all. This might not matter but I'm using 215/50-15's instead of 205/50-15's.

azenis don't grip well hot or under inflated. run 30 hot, no burnout
Dont think so huh? Well, I got my 2.006 in them with 13 psi. And heated up a good amount by smoking them in first and did a little dry hop. So how do you figure?
azenis is a very good drag tire i cant wait to get some
?????
Actually they are a great tire for cornering and auto-X/daily driving.
I see some great 60-footers here on them, but if you want a great drag tire you might want to try:
Nitto Drag Radials
or
BFG DRag Radials
Those are what you want if you want the better drag tire that can be street driven, not the Azenis.
also, you guys do a burn out at the track? thanks
If you have slicks, yes. Otherwise, please drive around the water.

SCC tested three tires, Azenis, BFG, and a pure slick. The Azenis does not like heat, better for autocrossing. Use the BFG or a pure slick at the track.
Never trust any shootouts or test done by SCC or Stupid street. We have already stated that the Azenis is meant for circuit. I guess the guys who use them on short ciruits over here must have some type of special tire cooler or something because tires get really hot on short circuits. A 15~20 lap short circuit race will heat tires pretty bad and a lot of people who drive their car to the track use Azenis. Hard sidewall and compound tires do not need a burnout! Do a dry hop to clear debris from the tread and set down a contact patch!! The original poster didn't ask about BFG's or slicks. More than likely he already owns a set of Azenis and would like to try them on the drag strip.
