Wheel Bearing Sevice Bulletin 06 07 Civics
Just something to keep in the back of your head if you hear a humming noise in the rear wheels of your 06 or 07 civic (all trim levels). I just found out today that there is a service bulletin out for the rear ABS sensor O-ring. Apparently the O-ring can get crushed and allow water to enter the rear wheel bearings and cause them to fail, leading to the most annoying hum you've ever heard. I had my bearings replaced today (13k miles) and the noise is still there to what the dealer claims is "Choppy rear tires" which i have to deal with Dunlop about. BS. But there is a problem with the bearings so keep an eye out.
I checked ISIS at work, and there is a TSB out for this. Just for the forums info though, this problem hasn't really been reported in the Si trim, mainly the LX

I've been having a pretty loud from the rear end on my 07Si (17k miles) and I just wrote it off as crappy tires.

Did anyone ever find this bulletin number? I work for Honda and have not been able to find it, but my friend has an 07 Si and it is making noise which I originally would pin to the tires, as they are a little choppy, and the previous post above from the thread starter about having them replaced and the noise is still there, makes me think that it is not the tires. As a lot of people know, when tires get choppy they will give a loud humming noise. Normally associated with camber or toe wear on the inside edge, coming from lowered cars that have no alignment kits installed, which are more pronounced under braking if the choppy tires are on the front.
If anyone could get this bulletin number, it would be much appreciated.

A little misunderstanding. I didn't have the tires replaced, I had the rear wheel bearings replaced. When the noise didn't go away, the dealership chalked it up to choppy tires. I didn't get new tires b/c mine only have 12K miles on them and still have loads of tread on them. The Car is not modified in anyway suspension wise. The dealership refused to do anything about the tires b/c they told me "you could drive out of the dealership, hit a speed bump and knock the car out of alignment" to which I replied, "then thats a hell of a car you're building."
I will try to get the bulletin number by tomorrow night.

So that's what that was. My thanks to you.

In response to the above post about knocking the car out of alignment by hitting a bump, doesn't have anything to do with the car, suspensions are that way. For any car, any manufacturer. I have worked with suspensions for over 10 years and it can happen to anyone, more so, the choppy tires are normally caused by alignment or lack of rotation. Just a little bit of info.
They still should have taken care of the tires though, that is low mileage and not really long enough for them to start developing a "choppy" effect on the edges.
Hope that you guys are able to get these issues worked out, and still interested in knowing the bulletin number.
