you just wire it up to a relay, fused power goes into the relay, Another wire to the fan, one goes to switched power(so it only comes on when the car is on) and the last is a ground which goes into the thermo switch then back out and grounded to the frame. very easy, the relay is usually marked on top as to what goes to what. If a general use 12v relay 30 goes to the fan, 87 to power(with a fuse inline a 15amp should be good), 85 to switched power(+) and 86 to thermo switch then to ground from other pin on thermo switch. Im pretty sure this is right just google 12 relay. Im sure you can figure it out

also if your fan switch was torn out you would be leaking coolant all over the place

you just get a switch..and two wires, put one from the battery to the switch, and one from the power wire on the fan to the other side of the switch..you dont have to do anything with the relay..

you should buy a new coolant temp/fan switch. really

in the mean time, you can easily tap into one of the wires going into the coolant temp switch (Yellow/Green) which should show 12V+ with the key in the ignition. Tap into it and run your new wire to a switch inside the cabin. The other side of the switch run to a good ground. done

When you actually replace the fan switch (which you should) you will still have the option to turn on the fan with your switch.

why would you wear your fan out? only an idiot would have the fan running all the time..only if your idling for a while you would need to turn it on

well i know i was just thinking an unknown amount of volts going to the fan straight from the battery might short it, I'm not sure on how many volts it needs or would get, ya know?

in my crx with a sohc zc all i did was take the two wires at the fan itself and ground the negative to the battery with the U connector thing and then took the power wire to the fuse box under the dash and found something with power and hooked it up to a switch in the little coin tray to the left of the steering column.

It looks clean and works all the time. But seriously i live in the so cal desert and i rarely use the fan, only when at a dead stop for a few minutes does it get hot.

Why do people want to ghetto rig these things? It only takes an hour or so do do it properly with a relay, and as someone posted earlier you dont want to run wires straight to the switch without a relay, the switch is not meant for hight current draw and will get fried. It is meant to ground the relay circuit. Also if wired straight to the switch this will keep your fan on when the car is off

i dont have anything connected to my switch in the back of the block. It is all bypassed and i just controll with a little on/off switch when the fan is on or off.
