My buddy wants me to paint a few trim pieces on his R6 to match the color of the bike.
here's what he wants me to paint:
top trim piece that goes over the gas tank.
side trim piece by the gas tank
side trim piece with the R6 logo on it

1. how much paint do i need? (is a pint too much?)
2. what kind of primer should i use since the trim pieces are plastic?
3. what is the best way to match the exact color (since i can't take a painted piece off the bike?)
4. recommend a clear coat?
tia!

why not? they come off, and there should be a paint code. i hope your friend isnt painting a raven. it would be sad
a pint should be enough, any primer should be fine as long as you use adhesion promoter on it since it is plastic. if you are painting it black i would just use singlestage paint. it will be cheaper and cover up nicely.

i've never painted anything with single stage.
i'm assuming this means base coat and clear coat somehow go on at the same time. can you explain this a little more please

another question i have is....how much should i charge this guy? i mean i know him he's my friend, we went to high school together and kick it from time to time on rare occassions, but i don't consider him a real close friend ya know.
$100? is that too much or too little?

thats what im saying, lol
single stage is a paint that has the gloss in it already. no need to clear. charge him depending on your quality and hours you spent. and then kick him in the ***** for ruining a raven

he wants to be "different" cuz i guess all the R6's look the same...
he also has this sticker on it and i told him "ya u should take that off...stickers are for girls" and he was like offended he goes "yeah this bike will have a bunch of stickers on it when im done with it....like a real racing bike"
i was just like ooooook
how much do i charge him? he wants to "help" me do it...but i don't want him to help me.

true, id say more than a hundo and tell him theres nothing to help with, he just wants to learn so he can do it himself next time. you have to take off the plastics, prep them paint them, wet sand em, buff em, and put them back on, id want more than a hundo
