just got new clutch about 450 miles ago......i know i am supposed to break it in untill 750 miles......what are the symptons of a slipping clutch?

 

did you do any hard driving and shifting with it?

 

you have to drive hard on the clutch to tell if its slipping and thats something you shouldn't do when breaking it in.

The way i put it is, if you cant get 1st to 2nd gear rubber then your clutch is shot.

i lock up fine from 1st to 2nd gear no chirp or anything, and my clutch is fine

 

my exedy stage 2 3 puck feels like its going but i till rubbers 1-2 chirps 2-3 and the occasional 3-4th.idk how its going to be with the turbo on though.but like he said if its weak from 1-2 then thats when u know for sure its time to get a new one.I only have about 25k on my clutch but I feel like it need to be changed.

 

does it take long to engage? and is it hard to get into other gears?

 

Test it like so: Engage your emergency brake. Put the car into 1st, and start slipping the clutch, try to get the car moving. If the car moves even a little... you're good. Take note though to not try to run a marathon with the E-brake up. As soon as you see the car moving, you should stop. It wreaks havoc on ur clutch.

 

the only thing i was concerned about was it is a new clutch........and i dont know how long to break it in for.....I hit about 600 miles and i wanted to race a wrx.......so I was almost redlining it and all of a sudden i lost a lil powr....Motor is brand new b20B with PHk pistons .....no issues and brand new clutch....maybe it just isnt broken n totaly yet......but it chirps through 3rd....

 

If it is slipping that much, you should be able to smell it. It has a very distinct smell to it.

 

there is no smell.........i think it is ok now....it doesnt do it any more ijust drove for like 500 miles and it feels good now....
