Why's my 99 SI smell like clutch?
After cruising for a bit (in fifth gear without any shifting) i'll come up to a stop light and the smell of clutch (its ussually pretty bad). It only happens after cruising for a bit in 5th gear, so I know i'm not just riding the clutch out. At first I thought it might have been the brakes, but it's definetly clutch (burning clutch just has that terrible scent to it).
It also seems a random when it does it (ussually smell it about twice a day going to and from school which is a 20 miles drive each way).
In addition, my clutch has about 75K on it (I got a new clutch with the car when I bought it). What's going on here? Why's it smell like clutch?

I would say it's your AC clutch but it woulda only happened once & not be repetitive...other than that if it's happening after like 20 minutes with out shifting then it's possible it's slipping, but you usually don't see clutch slips at steady speed, so beats the hell outta me.

I wouldn't say 20 minutes of cruising, but typically atleast 3-5 minutes (I live by chicago so there's a lot of stoplights and traffic). But it never smells when i'm sitting in traffic at slow speeds (except maybe the first stop after cruising)

A/C clutch is metallic, you'd hear a clanging noise if it was stuck, which is highly unlikely, more than likely it broke.
At any rate, you probably wanna check your brakes first, a sticking caliper will produce the same smell. Bluing of the rotor should be a giveaway. A laser thermometer helps, check the rotor temperature after driving.
