Default broken differential...some advice please

well for the past week i have been experiencing a slight vibration whenever i accelerate and i hope that it was related to this. i downshifted into second gear from third going about 35 or 40. i didnt match my rev . has anyone seen anything like this...is it normal? this is what happened...

anyways...i need help on where to find a new one. i looked on ebay and googled but i just wana make sure i go to the right place and get the best for the money.

What's done to the car? They do make aftermarket diff housings that are built stronger. But when my buddy put one on his Comptech S/C S2k there was a pretty loud whine that was pretty annoying. I'll find out what diff housing he got, but I'm telling you, for some reason ever since he got that, that whine was present. He also craked the housing like you did, but it was S/C.

sheiiit!! wow never seen one crack all the way from end to end like that before...wow.

best bet is to find a used one from a junk'd s2k, or try s2ki.com.

upgrade to an ap2 diff while you're at it.

haha the car is stock other than cold air intake and test pipe. i though it was pretty crazy myself. it also cracked the other part too a little bit.

would the ap2 diff bolt right up and is it the same gear still?

It happened because God hates you for using a test pipe

The AP2 rear end will fit, but you will have to use 04+ hex bolts between it and the propeller shaft.

I saw this before, almost exactly the same. The owner of that car did it TWICE! To be fair, he had a habit of showing off and doing drag launches.

I hope you don't, or atleast learn to go easy on the differential in the future.

Sounds right, but I don't see the white mark you're talking about. I only see a yellow threadlock dot, and a reflection of the camera's flash. Plus, it would have hit that cross bar first.

what were you thinking down shifting to second doing 40 MPH?

lemme guess, you were tryna slow down just by holding the clutch while making high speed cornering... then you decided to downshift to second gear and then you just drop the clutch... im a right?

when you down shift to second with that speed, let go the clutch slowly just like yer in the first gear... you have to let your clutch slip knowing the engine in low RPM...

you learn it hard way and it sucks...

get it fixed and remember what i said... ROFL

dude are you ****** serious??? downshifting into 2nd at 35-40 is nothing as long as he rev matched... even still, I dont think that his diff should have cracked like that, there might have been prior abuse and this was the last straw... yeah it was a dumb move but you dont have to be a dick about it...

actually that isnt what happened...i wish i had a good excuse but the truth is quite pathetic. I drove by two old people walking and and i wanted to pop into second and scare the **** out of them. test pipe + intake = loud **** . instead it made a huge "pop" and the wheels locked up and spun the car pretty rapidly. anyways i know it was stupid and im willing to take the abuse from eberyone
