there is a thin black wire that connects to the starter with a spade type connecter, make sure this wire is securely connected, if it is not it will not start with the key, I had this same situation with a friends 97ex, it would push start but it would not start with the key, the wire had come of we re attached the wire and it started fine

starter came off my buddys running gsr then took it too advance auto to see if it was any good and they said its good has to be something with the ignition bad or something. the guy i bought it from left it outside with no drivers side window for a few months could of the ignition got wet and something shorted out or something or that sort?
starter is off a 00 gsr that will work with a ls swap with b16 tranny correct?

newer hondas have these but none of the 92-00 civics shoudl have them. i had the problem with the ls swap into my 99 civic. i had to run a ground wire to it and it has started fine ever since

its gotta be a bad ground. i had a loose bracket on my chassis to tranny ground and my car refused to start. but it would push start. CHECK ALL YOUR GROUNDS
