I have a jdm B16a putting into a 96 civic ex using the stock d16y8 harness...

okay..im at the last step before dropping this beast in and i ran into a problem..

I have a b16a which is 92-95 makin it obd1 and i used the d16y8 harness on it which is odb2a as we all know, well the plug on the alternator is round and the plug on the harness is square..Can i buy a 99-00 si alternator and be okay? or since the alternator is out of an 99-00 si will it be obd2b and not work? what are my options on doing this?..can i just cut and splice the round connector on the d16y8 harness and be okay? or will i run into problems?

I read about swapping voltage regulators, and i tried but i just cant figure out how to do it. Does anyone know a good explanation on how to do this? and/or has good pictures wit info on how to do this?..its the last point in my swap..please help

 

just cut and splice the wires, but ya you can use 99-00 Si alternator or 96-01 Integra alternator they are all the same, splicing wires is cheaper though

 

i would change the injectors, dizzy, alternator, and harness to obd2 using parts from 99-00 civic si, it'll look a hell of a lot cleaner than cut and splice harness

 

Yea i think i will just splice them and save me some dough..thanks for ur help and the quick responses
