Default B16 clutch cable (92-93 GSR)from 90 CRX Si doesn't work on '89 DX w/ same motor?

Like posted, I had my B16 w/ ys1 tranny in my '90 CRX Si and since I stripped that car and junked it I used the entire swap in my'89 CRX Dx but the damn clutch cable is maxed out as slack as can be and has no free play at all. I had to force the hell out of the bracket (w/ cable already mounted in it) to make it fit on the tranny and I don't know WTF is going on here? I have searched a good bit and found the 90-93 integra cable seems to be longer but I am using one from my old '92 GS-R and again it worked perfect in my Si, the right amount of free play and everything. I'm running an Exedy stage 1 clutch same as before but I am running a OEM looking light weight flywheel (8.5 lbs) that came w/ one of my motors (can't imagine this being a problem) and that is the one difference in the swap. The mounting braket is solid as hell and would barely budge when I smacke it w/ my 4lb sledge so I know it did not bend inbtween the swaps.

I am stumped right now and figured I would try you guys for a solution as I try to figure this out.

i have had this problem a couple times. Mine was because the throwout bearing didnt seat in the presure plate. I just push the clutch in until it poped in place then adjusted the cable. did u push the clutch pedal in at all. try it a few times and see if it works hope i helped

Yeah I know I can modify it if needed but I am looking to find out why this is happening in the first place???? I don't want to modify it to fix it and then realize later on that I had something else out of place to begin with.

I don't follow, I have put about 50 miles on the swap so far so there is no "seating" of the t/o bearing. I could be wrong but I have never heard that before and i have worked on and been around Hondas for a while now.

Don't worry its fine the way it is. I have the same tranny and I had the same problem, I needed to use my floor jack to push the arm up enough to get the cable on. There is no free play but it is adjusted properly, and the tranny has just recently been apart when I put a cusco diff in and no strange wear issues. I think If you search others with the ys1 have had this "problem" too. Apparently its not a problem

Yeah that's how I feel about right now, it feels fine when engaging and disengaging but yeah, no freeplay. It seems to be ok w/ the clutch so far, I have not smelled it burning or anything. I have already been thinking of ways to modify the cable so I still have that free play I like so much. not too mention the fact that I'll bet tha cable is under more stress this way and may be prone to breaking WAY before it's time. I should finally have some time this weekend to actually mess w/ it uniterupted so I'll post up whatever I come up with.
