BAR'ing B16A2 swap w/ GSR tranny
I did some research and found this:
<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">Transmissions and transaxles changes alone are not legal. Transmissions and transaxles can only be changed along with their matching engine. The total engine transmission package must conform to the engine change requirements above.</TD></TR></TABLE>
http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermkt/replace.htm/
According to those words, the matching TYPE of tranmission along w/ the engine should be okay. So it sounds like using a GSR tranny should be fine.

They dont care about the trans. They dont even care about the year. As long as your emission is "correct" then youll be fine with any motor.
Another big concern could be your cat when getting a swap legalized. I moved here from out of state and the only thing I need to get my swap BAR legal is a 96+ OBDII California ONLY cat.
Getting swaps here are EASY. Just costs some extra money but worth having a complately legal ride.
