def. LX the plate frame area would be color matched if it was a EX and DX doesn't have power windows and cruise. but there is one way to tell if its a lx or ex check the engine if its a d16y7 then its a lx if its a y8 then a ex

well if it is an lx and has the d16y7,do you think its worth $1000? it has 100,000 miles, But its been stolen 5 different times..what do you guys think?

The owner doesnt know what ex or d16y8 means, so im going to have to wait to see it in person to know exactly what it is..Thats why i posted here

its def worth the 1000 if you don't buy it i will... jus make sure that the title is clean and that the car has not been stripped and rebuild when it was stolen. the first thing you should do when you buy it is put a cut off switch on it for $75 or get a good alarm. good luck and good deal.

I say LX cause of the different taillights, they are bigger than the DX/EX models.

The only thing you can tell from tail lights are years from the cars.

96,97,98 or 99,00 for sedans

No, LX taillights are bigger than the EX/DX models (at least for 96-98 models). You won't find those big taillights n an EX or DX without modification.

96-00 Coupes are the same

96-00 Hatchs are the same

Sedan are just split from 96-98 / 99-00

model for the tail lights here has nothing to do with it. post pics to prove yourself.

yesir you are incorrect if you did not know yet. the difference in size of tail lights has to do with coupe, 4 door and hatch. the difference in color is from 96-98 they are the same and 99-00 they are the same. sorry noob lol.

Are you thinking '96-'98 Civics have these (see image below) smaller taillights?

These taillights come on coupes only. (And FYI, the car in the photo below is a '98.)

actually, its an EX with an LX rear plate frame, you can see it has been replaced, along eith the EX tails, which are the same all around

the 99-00 are different, and then you have different LX/EX

I say EX because you can see the Chrome trim, EX tach, and the LX/DX interior trim is darker Just like 4dr grey is lighter than 2dr grey

However, this whole interior could be wrong, since I dont believe the chrome trim came on the forrest green 97's, but I could be wrong.

Dont buy it, it had its bad luck, and it looks like its had parts swapped around like your average gang bang.

Painted skirts (not OEM, except 2dr SI), and painted trim/chrome window trim = EX

power mirrors too, i think its an EX with junkyard swaps

OH AND ITS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO TELL IF THERE IS A SUNROOF OR NOT, mine looks exactly the same at that angle,

and all 96-98 sedan tails are the same size, but some have different color configs.

What are you smoking, they're exactly the same.

EDIT: Maybe you're thinking of the 96-98 and 99/00 difference??
/EDIT

Now as far as I know DX didn't have 4 doors - came in a coupe and a hatchback. So then it's either an EX or an LX.

As far as the CD player goes, on mine (EX) there's a CD player insert (where you eject and put in the CD) right behind the cup holder lid - where it's flipped up, so you can't see it in that picture if it's there.

Judging by the picture I see no way to tell if it's an EX or an LX, though I don't remember DX's coming in sedans - ever.
