Power Acoustik
I was just wondering what u guys know about Power Acoustik subs and amps? I can get a really good deal on 2 FUBAR 15's. And 2 amps to run them perfectly. But does anyone know if they are good or not?
obviously they arent the best stuff out there but for the price its not terrible. I had a PA amp before when i didnt have enough money to get something better.
It ran quiet and cool and i had no problems except it was a little overrated.

Wow and your work in the industry
.
I use the fubar 12 (2) in my Bass Race system I throw into the van. I'm happy with them. I'm feeding over 2kW rms to the pair. A few words of advice:
- The box is key. A well built and designed box will do wonders.
- Give 'decent' clean power to the subs. Look at the RMS rating-the 15" take about
800-1000 wats rms I believe-so that would dictate a 2000 watt RMS amp.
What kills speakers is not to much power but rather a little power being pushed till it clips and just cooks the coils.
There is decent product out there...the car audio world is very small much smaller than it was during the 'golden age' (early to mid 90's). Did you know Power Acoustik owned Soundstream? (it was aquired a few years ago)-and some of that tech is drifting down. Look as long as you use the equipment as it was intended you will do fine.
enjoy the drive

LOL...your barking up the wrong tree there.
Crossfire vr200d is my amp. I also use their distinct audio 1500..which is an entry level amp ( its basically a vr1000d internally
)
A lil about me:
- I have been into car audio longer than many of you have been alive (sad but true)
- I don't jump on the "flavor of the month" band wagon like many. I test and research it for myself.
- I picked those subs to prove a point entry level gear is not all bad
- I literally have closets full of car audio gear-and very little is "entry level"
I own gear from Alpine to Zapco and in between...enough to outfit 20 FULL complete audio systems-deck subs-spkrs amps-wiring- you get the picture.
- have been selling and install this gear for well over 20 years and it pisses me off to no end when someone slams a product without any real reason other than its "flea market gear" You wanna slam some gear slam
-Rockwood
-Kenford
-Wolvenfeng(?)
Did you know 80-85% of all the amps marketed come from 3 major build houses in Korea? And the most exspensive part is tooling of the heat sink. Many peeps also jump on a companies "Flagship" line because-its the most exspensive-so it must be good-yet can't figure out why a lesser model or "inferior" brand walks all over it
...they look dumbfounded.
look I can sit here and rattle off scripture and verse about car audio...but it won't change anyones views. There will still be those who know everything about car audio and are not willing to expand their horizons.
have fun

I wasn't barking up any tree. Thats a weird refrence. anyways most say they have some carzy power rating on thier amp and its way off. You do have to admit there are alot of idiots in this industry.
A little about me
- I have been doing car audio installs professionally for then past ten years. 6 days a week 52 weeks a year. Thats alot of time.
-I too personally test all the equiptment that I plan on using or selling.
-I love entry level equiptment. Too many people forgot how to install so they think you need super high end equiptment to sound good when in actuality you just need a good installer. I personally run 1 Memphis Power Reference 15 sub in a 7.8 ft^3 vented box on a Memphis M-Class 250D and at my last competition I hit a 145.7 legal on the dash on the new term mic.
-Any one who works in a shop for more than a year is going to have a closet full of gear. I constantly have my eye on new equiptment to carry in my shop and I buy stuff constantly to see if its good enough for me to put my name on it for my customers.
-My main beef with PA is that 15% of them are bad out of the box and they have one of the highest ruturn rates of any major brand. They are insanly over rated power wise you have an amp that is fused at 40 amps and yet it says it will put out 2000 watts... They must have some new technology because that is working at 347% effinceicy. They have no quality control. And they are available at any flee market.
-Old Rockford(pre best buy)=Really Good, New Rockford=not bad but not nearly as good
-Kenwood= not bad SQ not good power, Kenwood Excelon= good SQ, Not good power
-Wolfenhag= not bad, not godd, ulgy as hell
- I do know that most amps are made in the same plants.
-I personally run Memphis because they are part of that 15% that is not made in Korea.
Not trying to start a war just showing that I am not an idiot. Its nice to find someone else that knows what they are talking about.

No problem...
The compaines I was talking of were as they were listed:
Kenford and Rockwood are both companies who leached off of well established companies with a similar name and even went as far as creating packaging that was very similar to what they were releasing. As for the last one...I'll just say its on the very bottom (open an amp case and you'll know what I'm talking about)
PA returns rate is on par with the rest of the industry (less than 1%) unless you are dealing with B-stock product. ( i think you may be aware of what that is). I think what shows up at the flea markets is B-stock products that they have picked up from a liquidator and PASS IT OFF AS FRONT LINE GEAR
Yeah the power ratings have been like that for years and with CEA 2006 (and the other future standards) it will make more sense to the average consumer. Ohms law is great isn't it. A real 1200watt amp should have a fusing total of 100 amps or higher depending on design. 40 amps can't do that.
Enjoy the music
I do Bass Race because its more fun....for the audience

Power Acoustik is great. I think they're the best bang for your buck. I have just a 10" FUBR powered with a Power Acoustik LT1920/2. Loud for just a 10" in my eg hatch!

What are the rule for bass race. We dont have anything like that in IL. The car audio scene sucks out here. The only thing we get out here is db drag at mom and pops shops every other weekend.

Think about what wary means
Not saying I wouldn't buy it based on a name alone, but if a car audio company can't get their marketing/advertising together chances are their equipment is inferior too. Not knocking small companies, but the name fubar is again, as bad as xplod
