Well, the timing is set by the distributor on OBD1 cars (92-95) 4th gen Preludes, so you want to make sure you'll have a way to reset it once you get the new one on. Also the rotors can be rusty and hard to get off...I use a hammer and knock it slightly toward the engine to break the rust and then pull it off.

when it comes to setting your timing alot of shops (part source, autozone, napa etc) will bring out a timing light and get you all set up.

if not an option, than b4 you take your old one off, mark a center line. when putting new one up, line up the new dizzy with the center line and make the dizzy sit in exact same spot. That could be your referance line and depending on how your motor runs with new dizzy, you advance or retard the timing (advance rotation dizzy towards firewall, retard rotation by rotating dizzy towards front). If car sputters advance your timing, if car Pings, than retard timing a few degrees. Its safe to run car while adjusting dizzy. just leave dizzy bolts a bit loose so you just need to nudge the dizzy to adjust timing.

ALSO. take bearing grease and lubricate your new dizzies shaft and bearings. Make sure you don't get grease on contact/weight. They dry up very fast with all the heat inside so extra lubrication will ensure this dizzy doesn't fail like your previous

Weren't you the guy who took 5 days to remove the alternator belt?

There's three bolts. And a couple plugs on the distributor to disconnect. It's not rocket science.

One more quest.... before I actually try this after work today
So I don't need a timing gun if I make a point of refrence on the dizzy & head right
& no oil comes out when I pull out the dizzy right?

a couple drops came out of mine. nothing major. put a rag underneath

don't need a timing light. just trial and error

like i said. it will ping if you rotated your dizzy too far towards your cockpit
it will sputter if you rotated your dizzy to far towards front of your car!

You can do it while car running like i said, just leave bolts a bit loose so you just have to give dizzy a tap on one side or other to rotate it. Then test drive. if it feels slugish, and sputters, advance timing. If theres pre detonation, than retard the timing a few mm's

OR go to a shop. most shops will set your timing for you for free if they are reputable! if not, than don't deal with the stooges.

thats correct, if you put it right back at same angle you should be back to roughly your stock set up. than just fine tune from there. don't advance it more than a couple mm's from where your marked referance line is. Mark it in two spots though so you can line up both sets of marks !!!
