Default question about my 91 ef hatch

i have a 91 civic hatch bone stock d15b2 motor...i did an auto to si 5 speed swap..i drove it to another town about 15 minutes from home to get an estimate on exhaust and i noticed at 55 mph my tach is readin 3,000 rpm,and at 65 its readin about 4,100 i have a faze aftermarket tach so i know its right but i dont think those rpm's are right and im thinkin thats gonna be kinda hard on gas...can anyone tell me whats goin on? id really appreciate the help

Does the car skip or sputter...or are you going strictly by what the tack is saying

FYI: Faze gauge's are probably some of the most inaccurate pos gauges that are out. Why do you think they are so cheap?

snip the wires.

then but connect them to a autotach from kragen and see if you get the same RPM readings.
or you can buy a 90-91 Si cluster and install it

how many miles are on the clock and what would you want for it? do you have to do any re wiring to install it in my dx? it was an auto car and no factory tach

I did the same thing on my 90 dx.
It just plugs in and bolts up, there are 2 plugs that you dont use in the 90-91 si cluster that were previously used in the auto cluster to display which position the shift lever is in.
Good Luck

with that tranny at 65 mph in 5th gear you should be turning around 3000 rpms. so there must be something wrong with the tach. or maybe the speedo is wrong.

Your lack of reading comprehension might be the problem. More than one person has already stated that your brand of tachometer is crap, hence a good possibility of not reading correctly. To be absolutely sure one way or another, take the car to redline, and see where the tach says the fuel cut is. If it's accurate, you should be hitting the factory fuel cut (unless you've got a chipped ECU for god knows what reason).
