Default Whos had an alignment? I got a Q..

I just wanted to poll tjose who have had an alignment from a shop. Heres my story/question. I took my car in to get an alignment since I got new wheels and I knew one wheel was way off. Now in the past 2 alignments I got from different shops they gave me a sheet of before/after of tires orientation. However this shop didnt, and I also think they were trying to rake me for a brake job.

Now I know alot about hondas and do most of my repairs, but was having brake issues I hadent resolved. They quoted me 1300 to fix the brakes and told me crap I knew wasnt true(since I never disclose my actualy auto knowledge as a test). In the end I fixed it for 100 bucks and even if I had paid the 1300 it wouldnt have fixed the prob. I was also doing some work in the rear suspension and it didnt even look like the touched the rear tie rod since the nuts looked all crusted over like normal. So just wonderin before I go complaining to them that they havent done anything...

Back to the beginning..

Is it standard procedure, in general, to get a print out after an alignment of the tires before and after orientation? TIA

I get a sheet listing all of the specs everytime I get an alignment... I would steer clear of that place as it sounds like they are kinda shady...damn for $1300 , you could replace all 4 calipers ,rotors,pads,etc....

I used to do Alignments, and sometime I would forget to get the printout and most customers wouldnt know the difference or what the numbers ment anyways. Regard to your rear if it wasn't out why touch it. When I would do alignments I would only change what needed to be changed. Granted you want to take it to a person that knows what they are doing. And the fact that they tried to sell you brakes isnt a sign of scaming you either. You have to remember that most auto mach dont make hourly they get paid on what they do, and $1300 might sound like alot but you have to figure labor into it not just parts. Most shops charge $80-$100 an hour but most of that goes to the shop. The Mechanic might get 20 bucks per hour.

I knew my rear pass was outta wack cuz my old tire were almost bald and showing outer wear..i.e toe issue..secondly I stated I had to pump the brakes 3 times to come to a complete stop and thought there might be air in the system. They said theyd do an inspection.. inspection result were cracked front rotors and pads were okay( which I had intially stated), the rear rotors were crap, the pads were on metal and the calipers shot..all a lie cuz I work on my car weekly and knew exactly how much pad life I had before dropping it off.

Plus I had the rear pass tire off days later to do sway bar stuff as stated, and it didnt look as if a socket had touched any of the adjusting nuts on the tie rod.

If had payed the money, which I wouldnt, the prob still wouldnt have been fixed. Sorry but you dont make a 1300 misdiagnosis unless your a complete idiot or trying to rake someone.

From what I read of your first post I dont see anything of what you just said in your last.

But what you said "pump the brakes 3 times to come to a complete stop " , No pads ( metal to metal), Bad Master (most likey) hole in brake hose ( unlike to stop at all).

regard to rotors and pads. Most tech WILL replace pads if they replace the rotors. I DONT care if you dont like it. Its a safety issue. Now I'm not trying to give you a hard time but Ive been a Tech for most of my adult life and I hate see people wine and complain about how much it cost to get their car repaired. Most people dont understand how much time and effort it takes to be a tech and how much you spend in tools. Granted 1300 bucks does seem a bit steep for a honda. Figure maybe 400 in parts thats pushing it. 6 hours in labor is very high. Most quality jobs are about 2- 2.5 hours per pair (ie front and rear).

Im not complaining about the price, IF IT HAD FIXED THE PROBLEM. However a usual brake job is 100 bucks for pads and to turn the rotors. Im fine with that, but when you quote me what they did, then I fix the issue with a new booster for a 100 even, it makes all the other stiff they quoted a buch of crap dont you agree? how could my front rotors be cracked and warped, rear calipers shot, pads to metal and rear rotors crap as well, if in the end I replaced the booster myself and everything went back to normal?

I smell a scam...just based on the facts..and this wasnt some small shop where the mech is the owner too..more of a smaller local chain repair shop.
