Default Honest opinion on Rota D2 wheels

Happy Father's Day everyone.

Before I begin, I'd like to mention the obligatory "Let's not turn this into a Rota bashing thread." With that out of the way, what are you opinions on the Rota D2 wheels?

For those that do not know, they are somewhat replicas of the Work Meister S1 and Speed Star Racing (SSR) Professors as seen below:
2-piece Work Miester S1...

Another pic.

They also come in a 3 piece.

SSR Professors...

And FINALLY.....Rota D2s. These are available for the S2000 in correct sizes and offsets.

Picture from http://www.machiii.net, a distributor of Rota wheels.

The Rotas are approximately $800+, significantly cheaper than the above "real" wheels. I'm all for saving money, but for those who actually have seen these, do they look as good? I'm not keen on spending $2500+ on USED Work wheels. Also please spare me the "You get what you pay for," unless you're willing to donate to my wheel fund.

Apologies for those picture owners above, PM me and I will remove them if you wish.

personally i think they look great. although i havnt seen them in person on a s2k...all the pictures people post with them look good. the only thing stopping me from getting them is the fact that i dont want 18's.

i was planning on getting some fo rmy s2k, but only thing was i didnt want to wait and etc for shipping.. im SO GLAD i didnt get them because i found a set of rims 5 miles away that i was looking for forever.. so its up to u.. i just dont like 18'' wheels on s2k, and fact that if i woulda got them, ppl would be ignoring every other positive aspect of my car and point negatively to the "rotas", but like person above me said, who cares what other ppl think unless u can get a good deal on some real wheels go for it

Hope you get the 18s because the 17x8.5 doesn't come in any offset higher than +40.

18x9 +50 looks decent enough.

either they were not in that good of condition or he desperately needed money....

or he has a ton of money , and it is no big deal to lose money.....

because if they were in very good condition he should have been able to sell them for quite a bit more

As mentioned right below your post, they must not have been in very good condition or he just didn't care about money. Good condition Work Miesters are still over $1800-2000. Or were they 15s?

<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by S@nt0s &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">honestly.. if your going to be cheap on it then $500 for them would be kool, however for $800+ thats a lot for "KNOCK OFFS"

Well, 18" Rotas (any model) are about that price, right? Sure $800 is still a lot of money, but compared to $2700+ w/o tires, it's quite a bit.

but $800 is a lot for knock offs IMHO.. .you can get lots of used good wheels for that and a lil more... or save another G and get a good used set of Works

just take the money that you saved right now and put it somewhere safe. then think about how long it took to save that money. Then realized that all you have to do is do that exact same scenario 2-3 more times and WALA you have real deal rims. Good Luck.

IMHO it will look cheap. Those and the J-mags are the worst copies ever! Fake rivets ftmfL . That is my honest opinion. And dont say you dont care what others think cause i have this thread with my name in it to prove otherwise. Good Luck.

Haha, good advice. Thanks. To be honest, I have enough money to get the real ones now, it's just I don't know if I want to spend that much on wheels that may get damaged, scratched, stolen, etc.

I'm just a fan of something with a LARGE lip, something I can eat a steak off of, and besides the real expensive brands, it doesn't leave too much of a choice. Any other option with a HUGE lip? So they're fake rivets/bolts, eh? Interesting. Ya know I can get a used supercharger kit for a price of those wheels.

Why does everything for this car have to cost so much?

yea S2K parts are pricey.. which is why i love the $ i spent on my EVo because i can feel the results (power mods that is )

if u want somethign cheap with lip go RPF's X9 +45 all around... 235 tire front or 225 depending how low u are and 245/255 rear ... RPF's go for about 900-1100 new...

^^ HRE!! Instead of spending $2700 for four Work wheels, I can get a single HRE wheel.

No can do. It hits the inside edge against the suspension arms and the fender lining if you use a high enough offset to clear the outside. We've tried.
