Question about gauge cluster
My car is a 1999 integra ls.
My gauge cluster is an ls one and i have a 97 gsr transmission.
My question is:
Will the rpm read incorrectly because of this? Reason I'm asking is because I've been searching around about gsr tranny specs. and found out that a gsr tranny going 80 mph on 5th gear should be at 4000rpm. But mine is at 3500 rpm at 80 mph.
P.S. I've tried to search.

The transmission will not affect the tachometer operation. The relation between the speed and the RPM is determined by the gear ratios in the transmission. Check the calibration on your tach. Does the rev limiter intervene where it should? Most likely the transmission was not from a GSR, as an LS manual will operate at 3500 RPM in 5th gear at 80 mph. Sorry.
Damn if that is true then this is bull crap! got ripped off by a friend. ******* POS. the weird thing is my tranny code is y80 which is a gsr tranny code. but i got that code from a sticker that has a bar code on it thats on the tranny. they couldve just stuck it on there.
is there anywhere else on the tranny that has the tranny code on it? i want to have some way to prove that it isnt a gsr tranny so i can get my money back.

Sorry. If the VIN was on the transmission and it said DC2, then it is a GSR or ITR. (The VIN would differentiate ITR from GSR too.)

A lil bit confused.. so what does that mean?^

If I recall correctly, 1997 and newer transmissions were required to have the VIN on the transmission. So, it would say DC2/DB8 (GSR) or DC4/DB7 (LS). If the transmission has no VIN plate and is a 1997, it is most likely stolen. The Y80 should indicate a GSR or ITR transmission.
An easy way to check would be to monitor the RPM change beween gears. Even if the tachometer is off, the ratio should be correct.
RPM1/Ratio1=RPM2/Ratio2

How much past redline? 100-200 RPM is normal for the fuel cutoff to engage.

as for the redline, it goes farther than 100-200. it goes i would say to nearly 8000. but i have never dared to push it to 8000.

i think 8000 is the redline. my buddy had a gsr and he would take it to 8100 or 8200 i think. im not sure but i think vtec hits at 4800. hopefully this will help

in 5th gear at 60 its going pretty much exactly 3000 rpm.
my motor is a jdm b20b
chassis is just an ls one.

i think the b20 redlines at 6200. i was looking at a crv and thats where the tac says it redlines. are going to do the ls/vtec because the stock b18 had more horse power or did the motor come with the car when you bought it? just curious what intake manifold is on it?
well i bought it from a friend when he put in the b20 motor and a "gsr" tranny. the intake manifold should be a stock b20 one. i was originally planning on going b20/vtec but its really not worth the money. just gona save money for other things in life.
im really pissed off. my friend would never ripp me off. i know cuz hes always hooking me up with parts. but the rpms just dont match up.

If both of those statements are true, the tachometer is not responding linearly.

well the stock manifold wouldnt fit thats why i asked. must be the ls manifold. better off with the stock b18 if your not going cr/vtec
