Default lack of power in vtec

my itr runs fine before 5k rpm
but when vtec kicks in @ 5k rpm, it still rev up but it feels no power at all and the rev climbs up very slow...
I check the oil and I top it up (it was 1l oil low when i found the problem) but the problem is still here
the spark plugs are only few months old and they are denso IK22
the engine check light doesn't come on...i don't know if it is because it is running power fc
btw, for my engine, it is burning oil crazy because the valve seals or/and valve guides are leaking, the block seems to be fine because it is only 9% leak from the leak down test
so can the head be the problem??? or anything else??

Stick your crossover to 5900/6000 and give it a try...

What intake do you run? If you have a j's or short ram, it is most likely just lots of heat soak. Put you stock box back in during the hotter months, or buy a MUGEN intake, today was 35 degrees celsius and my car still ran fine with the Mugen. Worth every penny.

It could be your cap and rotor, its like 50 bucks to change them, go to your local parts store and grab it see if that does the trick.

well, it is hesitating in the vtec but it runs fine before the vtec
the itr ran fine until few days ago...

yea i am running with j's...in the hot day, it is heat soak crazy...but right now...it is way slower than normal...
it kicks in vtec, but no power; rev very slow; it doesn't want to rev pass 7k/7.5k...(i already step the gas all the way lol)

i never change the cap and rotor but i think i will get them a try since my friend told me that my itr needs to replace them this year or next year...

Put back stock ecu this morning, my itr still runs the same and no engine check light come on tho

put the new distributor cap and rotor, it revs pass 7k rpm again and it feels better.... but not as fast with the power fc tho...

btw, does anyone has problem with power fc?
when my itr runs with power fc, it smokes alot...(black smoke and very light blue smoke under hard acceleration, coming to stop) but it won't smoke with stock ecu execpt hard acceleration(no blue smoke with stock ecu)

That's REALLY weird that you'd be blowing blue due to tuning... I blow a **** ton of black out my exhaust on stock ECU.

Try cleaning the Vtec oil pressure and solenoid assembly. sometimes the screen gets clogged.

I have had the ecu tuned twice on dyno but my tuner never tune a power fc before since there is no power execl dealer in BC and on the island

my power fc was a B16B unit but I put the b18c map into it by dataloggit and then tuned by the tuner

btw, I go for a drive today with the stock ecu. When vtec kicks in, there is only barely little bit smoke when vtec swtich over and almost no smoke after the vtec switch over.
on the other hand, there was an overcharged problem on my itr when it was under high speed or high engine load or high rev during the braking, when i test it out today, it seems to be gone after swap back the stock ecu in...
does the power fc be the problem?? or can the dataloggit cause the problem because the power fc always connect to the dataloggit

I had the same problem two weeks ago and it turned out to be a bad fuel pump.
