Default who's gsr leaks oil??

I have a 1997 GSR...its always leaked a tiny bit of oil...( a drop here or there)...but lately its been starting to leak a little more, it leaves a drop everytime i drive it now...i was wondering if anyone else had the same problem and what they did to fix it

my gsr has 106k miles, and i dont really beat on it, im just wondering if a little leak is common with gsr's...the only thing i could think of that i have done wrong is once when i got my oil changed i used regular oil as opposed to synthetic...ive been using synthetic for years and then i used regular oil, but only once...

its more prone to leak with synthetic than it is to conventional, so maybe go back to that. Another thing you could do is put in a thicker oil

Mine doesnt leak any oil, but to fix any oil leak, the first thing you need to do is find out where its leaking from.

Its gonna be a gasket, or a seal of some sort. So if you replace that, then its gonna be fine.

Offtopic.. If youre looking for a jdm itr sway bar, contact beaks products, i bought mine from them.

yeah...one of the reasons i made this posts was to see if maybe there was a specific gasket that usually goes out in 97 gsr's that ppl would know about...im also curious to see if any other ppl out there have oil leaks as well...

i did contact beaks...and it seemed their prices were kinda high...im currently saving up for paint and a removable steering wheel (im starting to get paranoid with my gsr)...i also wanna start rebuilding my motor...

It's not because of the one time you used conventional oil, so don't kick yourself over that.

It could be the cam seals or one of the gaskets.

That's a separate issue. He's asking about a leak where he's actually seeing a drop on the ground. (We don't see any drops on the ground, but yes, our '94 with 165K miles consumes a quart of oil every 1200 miles.)

yeah, i've replaced cams seals and valve cover gasket twice on my 97gsr. got 80k miles, but it starts to leak after about 40k. I replace them first at 38k and changed out timing belt at the same time. Now at 80k, started to leak again, so i changed out all the seals and gaskets again.

could be your oil pan gasket. mine was leaking down there last time i went under the car to change oil. i'll probably change the gasket in a couple of months because mine does leak that bad. it doesn't leave a oil puddle.

when i did my last oil change i had a small leak on the bottom left side where the head meets the block, right above the engine stamp. this seems to be a common problem from looking at all my friends honda's. oddly enough it stopped leaking after i put some miles on it.

Yeah, mine leaks there too but not enough to drop all the way to the ground.

I would check the oil pan gasket, oil sending unit, distributor o-ring, vtec solenoid gasket, cam seals, cam cap seals, etc. It isn't rocket science to find a leak...just poke around and you will find it.

correct, degrease the motor and then drive it hard to see where the oil leaks from.

Some common spots that like to leak oil:

Valve cover: VC gasket, spark plug tube seals, valve cover washer/seals, oil cap

Distributor end of the engine: dist. o-ring, cam plug seal, rear main crank seal

Timing belt end of the engine: cam seals, front main crank (oil pump) seal

Rear of engine: oil pressure warning sending unit, engine oil temp switch (some cars), oil filter seal, oil breather tank seal, oil cooler lines (some cars)

Tranny (manual): axle seals, shift rod seal (real name ?), drain plug, fill bolt, seal between cases

Oil pan gasket, oil drain plug washer

I am sure there are more, but this might help when you find the general area of your leak.

yep mine burns and leaks haha. 94 gsr sedan with 188,xxx. Previous owner was an idiot.

My oil pan gasket is leaking and so is my rear main seal. Everything on timing belt side is ok.

Also leaking from dizzy o-ring (he said he replaced it) ha and also the cam cap seal.

Just waiting for my build is done so I can free up my engine stand before I completely tear down and replace everything on this engine to get her back up to shape.

Sea-Foam is the devil.

my car is bleeding mad oil, i'll say about 1 qrt every 2 to 3 weeks. Im pretty sure it's my head gasket, it seems to be leaking from there. Just got to keep a close eye on your dipstick. you'll eventually get use to it like i did. lol i hope my head is not warped or somthing like that, lets see what happens when i replace the cam seals and headgasket. oh yeah i got to stop smashing too..i can smell the oil hitting the back of my headers. it stinks!!! -_-"

Im having the same situation has you are too. i can smell it in the car but mines doesnt drip. i let my uncle took a look at it under neath the car, and he couldnt even spot it either, so he decided to degrease that **** and then told me to drive it hard and see where its leaking from, he said it might be from the oil pan or iono, but ill wait and see,
