Default Nos

Sup all,

What do you guys think of the ZEX NOS kit? Think a 99 accord V6 can handle 75-100 no problem?

I personally don't trust Zex products, but you'll find other people with opinions that differ from mine here. But a few things:

1) It's not NOS, it's nitrous. NOS is a company (part of Holley) that manufacturers nitrous applications and products
2) Do a lot of research before you know what you're getting in to. Be sure to find an application that is suitable for you. There are dry, wet, direct-port, and direct injection systems, research them.
3) There will be more than meets the eye if you want to run the nitrous safely and maximize it's power potential.

Nitrous is never safe.

Dry kit will run your motor real lean (not good). Wet kits add fuel with a secondary fuel line (to richen the mixture). If tuned properly and by using the correct jet sizes, you can maintain a stoic a/f mixture.

Well then, either is turbo, sc, high compression, etc etc etc. Everything puts stress on your motor. you can mizimize the stress when using nitrous, if it is used properly. I have been running nitrous on my car for over 3 years, and have been using nitrous on other cars for about 9 years. It ain't that hard if you DO IT RIGHT.

As for the Zex kit, I had it for a year. It was a good kit. I never had any problems out of the operation of the kit. I know 6 other people who are currently running, or did run the ZEK kit. Again, no problems.

From what i hear the ZEX comes with the computer that increases the fuel mixture when the Nitrous is activated at full throttle

Turbos put a gradual strain on the engine as they create boost. The nitrous is an immediate hit that damages the entire drivetrain. Turbos allow the metal to load up, while nitrous is a sudden hit, If you had physics, you would know that the impulse is much lower reguardless. F=p/t. More time for the same change in momentum means less force.

I am not stupid, I understand that. However, anything you do to your motor is going to cause premature wear, and place strain, whether built up or sudden. Progressive nitrous controllers also help solve the sudden hit strain.

i thought that was VENOM...but either way the computer can be eliminated if the nitrous is installed right...you should go with the wet kit because you want your engine to run at cooler temperatures when using such fuels as nitrous...this will prolong your engine life a great deal because of less stress with the lower operating temps...those are my .02 though..good luck

Zex also has a fuel controller.

i say just go with N.O.S.'s kit especially for your car, they have it.
i have a kit and it works flawlessly, only thing i have added is a fuel pump,
and im getting a purge valve.you'll be happy with it.

I believe the controller that comes with the ZEX kit is just an on/off controller (ie it only turns on at WOT but when its on its not a gradual build up) I think you need an additional controler that doesn't come with the kit to have the NO2 increase gradually. But I could be wrong.

it just increases the fuel so it won't run lean, then Venom you can control the amount of NO2, but the kit is 1200, compared to zex 500

Guys,

It's N2O, not NO2. This is one of my biggest pet peeves. Nitrous Oxide is 2 parts nitrogen, and one part oxygen. The formula you have would be for Nitrogen Dioxide, which is a dark brownish gas and reacts with air to form nitric acid. It does not help your car any.

"I NEED TWO BIG BOTTLES" wouldnt this only allow how many times he "runs" the system.. not how much he is pushing? which is deteremined by the pill .. right?

I have had my Zex kit for awile now and have had NO problems.I like it .It hooks up to your throttle position sensor and when it hits 91% (on my VAFC) PSSSSSSTT.
It also had a vaccuum line connection that raises your fuel pressure when the nitrous is activated so it doesn't lean out too much.
I was told that my engine will blow up ,auto tranny will fall out ,and other BS ...
4.5 bottles later I'm still having fun with it. I'm sure it will prematurely wear the motor ,but anything that makes more power and is driven harder will.
