type r ecu into a gsr?
Gsr ecu will work better on a Gsr. Thats why honda decided to have separate ECUs in the first place. The Gsr intake manifold has dual butterflies inside it. The ITR manifold doesnt. So the ECU controls them. If you switch the ECU no more butterfly valves. So I think it wouldnt be beneficial to do so. Keep in mind I'm going to assume that you have the Gsr intake manifold.
Im sure you could use the ITR ECU. I really don't see it making that big of a difference. Its going to also raise the Rev Limiter and I wouldn't want to be able to Rev higher than the motor is intended to. I guess in the end its really up to you. I myself would stick with the GSR Ecu.
I drove a GSR with a type R ecu and it wasn't too great....Maybe the higher end was stronger? (Prolly wasn't, but I got no dyno sheets to compare...) The GSR worked much better throughtout the rpm band anyway.
Once you install your Skunk 2 IM, you should consider getting a set of ITR cams. THEN, the ecu would work good for you. BUt, eaither way you'd prolly be better off sticking with the GSR ecu until you get more mods, then just get the GSR ecu tuned as needed...
