Need Help '88 crx
I recently purchased a '88 crx with a d16y7 swap, it needed new axles so i put in axles for that year, but when i let off the clutch they weren't grabbing, i get ahold of the guy and tells me that its a '96 dx swap, so i purchased '96 civic axles and installed those with the same results. i don't know what could be wrong, any help would be great, thanks for reading.
well then you just need the axles for the dx tranny, im guessing its the tranny that came in you car so just ignore the fact that you have a new engine in there and go get some axles for your car. if im correct the one on the driver's side is alot longer than the passenger.

K, the other day it started to grab but when i let the clutch out all the way they popped out or somting cuz it stopped grabbing and i could hear spinning, i think i had them in all the way, had the axle nut off and tapped them up into the tranny seemed to be set......whoever had it put some stupid clutch in it, i have a stock 90 crx dx clutch laying around, i will see if that will fit. thanks!!!!
90 clutch will not fit with 88 tranny, different size flywheel and spline count on 88 are the same as si splines for 88-91 and not 89-91 dx (at least on my dx it was). 88 is 'special' (dont tell your car though it might get its feelers hurt)
no, no, i mean the splines on the input shaft of the transmission are unique to 88s....i have a 91 drivers side axles and an 88 passenger side axle on right now with a 88 si tranny and an 88 clutch/flywheel combination. it is just you have to keep flywheel/clutch/tranny for 88 if you have 88 that is all.. you can change the flywheel to the 89+ and use the newer tranny's and clutches. someone correct me if i am wrong, but i believe that is the way it goes.
