Installing AEM short ram
Ok so yesterday I installed my AEM short ram intake on my LS and I noticed that what seems to be 3 vacuum lines go into a metal pipe which then goes into the factor air intake... for now I just plugged it in the same way it was into my AEM intake but I think it looks like crap... some people tell me to just put a vacuum line from the valve cover straight to the nipple on the intake and just cap off the other 2 lines... but I think if all 3 go into the intake from the factory there has to be a reason why... so anyway for those of you who have installed aftermarket intakes what did you do to those 3 lines? Thanks!
there is only 1 line from the intake to the valve cover but with the factory air intake there was a metal pipe that went three or four ways. 1 line went from the valve cover to the pipe and the other 2 went in opposite directs but im not sure where. anyway it all routed back into the intake.

Oh and does anyone know what size the vacuum hose is that goes into the valve cover? because I think I may order some online since it seems like no one around here has the right size. Thanks!
Heres a diagram of it http://img72.imageshack.us/img...7.gif as you can see, hoses 7 and 8 attach to the metal pipe (also known as breather pipe) that also goes into the valve cover nipple... and then those 3 hoses get routed to the air intake. can I connect hoses 7 and 8 together? and then just run a straight hose from the valve cover nipple to the nipple on my intake pipe? and once again anyone know what size hose it is? thanks!

didnt come with directions and thanks for the help about the hose size... and also it says that hoses 7 and 8 are both heater breather hoses so im pretty sure I can attach them together but can anyone verify that? thanks!
When I installed my CAI on my RS, I looked at those metal lines and saw no purpose for them. So I noted the routing of the lines, took small samples of each hose size to the parts store, and replaced those lines with rubber. One line goes to the dashpot, this valve keeps the revs from dropping to quickly when you let off the throttle. The larger one goes to the valve cover which is obvious. Can't remember about the third line you speak of. Looks much cleaner without the bulky metal lines IMHO.
I know its not that hard because I already installed it but with that metal breather pipe installed it looks like ****. and I was wondering what people did to get rid of it. my friend has a 98 RS with a short ram and he just brought a line from the valve cover straight to the intake and just left the other 2 lines hanging and I dont wanna do that. The hoses I dont know what to do with are hoses 7 and 8 on that diagram I posted a couple posts up. It says that hose 7 is hose A breather heater and hose 8 is hose B breather heater... and for some reason my dad is telling me that those line carry water when im almost 100% sure they dont.
Ok after looking at it better during the day time... I just noticed that the breathe rpipe is 2 seperate pipes welded together basically. and 1 of the pipes connect the intake to the valve cover and the other pipe just connects hoses 7 and 8 from the diagram and when i pulled it off, it had antifreeze in it. so im just gonna get rid of the breather pipe and connect hoses 7 and 8 together and run a new tube from the valve cover to the intake.
