Hi all, I did search before posting on this....

I'm having a problem with my 2001 Civic 4 door automatic, making a whining noise on cold start. It makes the whining noise when parked or while driving. It goes away almost completely when warm but I noticed it's getting worse. We bought the car new and took care of it and didn't abuse it. It has only 105,000Km(60,000miles) roughly. I'm thinking this is the transmission on it's way out. I bought this car because I thought Honda's wouldn't die. Any ideas of what this could be?

 

sounds like belts 2 me. ?

 

I'm gonna guess its the alternator bearings.

 

^Ill second that. Ive had 2 civics and both of them have had this issue, including my current 7th gen.
