Default wastegate not holding spring pressure

ok ,i think ive mentioned this in other peoples posts , ive got a cheapo 38mm wastegate but got a 7psi tial spring in it. had it on the dyno the other day and it spools to 7psi but 3-4rpm then drops to 4psi and tails off slightly above 8k. i keep gettin told its a boost leak but its the wastegat staying open as i could hear it (screamer pipe out the bumper :-) ). any one know why it might not be holding spring pressure ? . diaphram is not cut or pinch in the wastegate .

what kind of motor is this? and i would try someone elses 38mm wastegate and see if theirs works or not.

cheapo wastegates are never good imo(i know people have had success on them, but i wouldn't use one)

I have quoted the problem

doesn't really matter what spring you have in it if the wategate itself is garbage

people here on h-t are your friends. check the forced induction market place and you'll find some for rather cheap. or just search it.

you should be able to get one for around 250

what are the tial 38mm wastegates good to for hp approx? I was looking at running a tial 38mm wg on my h23 with a gt35r with the .82a/r turbine. Im looking to run around 500whp, should I opt for the 44mm wg or is it money that will be spent unnecessarily?

i had that problem with a tial waste gate i bought off someone.
turned out the diaphram was pinched inside the wastegate.
i replaced it and all was well once again.

open up your wastegate to make sure there are is no internal damage to the housing, diaphram, spring seat
