I was going about 50mph uphill, engine lost complete power , I almost crashed into two cars while trying to pull over. Once pulled over I tried gas (i was on almost empty), then a jump start. Nothing. Now its towed back to my house, it will turn and crank but will not start up. Any troubleshooting or solutions other than what I've tried. thanks.

My fiance has a 92 Accord LX and one day she was driving down the road and the engine lost power. All the indicator lights came on, the car tried to crank but wouldn't turn over. Ended up being the distributor / rotor.

 

Check for spark. Also remove the Distributor cap and make sure that there isn't metal shaving inside the cap. Have seen either the ignitor fail inside that distributor or the distributor bearing go bad and ruin the insides of the distributer.

 

thanks guys, i'm pretty sure after checking everything else out that the problem IS the distributor. too bad they're 2 hundo w/out installation. how easy is it to install one?
