So my caR went to VIR shiny and pristine. 366 VIR miles later.....
I need new brake pads all the way around. My fronts came off in 2 pieces today.
I almost fried my motor on the parade lap. It turns out 1 of the power wires to the FAL fans came loose which did not let the cooling fans turn on. I noticed my temps where quickly approaching terminal levels when Dave B Jr and Sr and a friend helped me figure it out. ( I was the one with the popped hood on the parade lap's back stretch intermission)
A lower heat shield has come loose and is giving an annoying vibration now at lower RPMs.
And lastly, Im am now the proud owner of the infamous 3rd gear grind.
Other than that, the caR is great.
How bout your's? What broke and what needs to be fixed as a result of Expo fun?

I heard the 3rd gear grind......didn't want to say anything since you seemed to slam the next gear just as hard.
Just replace the 3rd and shift slower...your car was fast though

My a/c line has a hole rubbed through it. Thats about it for me.
She only burned 3/4 quart on the track and about a 1/4 on trip from Knoxville to Nashville.

I developed a grind from 4th to 5th gear that wouldn't let me upshift to 5th at all under the bridge into the uphill esses by the 3rd session Tuesday so I just pitted in on the 3rd lap and packed her up. Later I've been told that I might want to bleed the clutch and swap in the new Honda MTF before jumping to conclusions about a new clutch. But by this time I had already had 6 good sessions so finishing the 7th and pushing for an 8th wasn't a huge deal.
Other than that, nothing. Pure Honda reliability which is one of the main reasons I love these cars and another reason I'm not in a rush to do any power mods. The Cobalt pads I installed worked better than anything I've used in the past besides their horrible shrieking before they got hot. The AZ rotors I installed looked remarkably good, no heat stress cracks and minimal abuse like the last time I was at VIR in the winter
. My car didn't consume any oil in 8 sessions over the two days.
Oh and I trailered it to and from the event

Awaiting compression test, more than likely I burnt a valve or two. Misfire in cylinder two after my second session on Monday
Other than that, I didn't wear down much of my brakes or tires

[QUOTE=coolhandluke]I am also proud to say that I didn't burn any noticable amount of oil
WTF? Do you have 20K miles or something? LOL An aRRRRRgh that does not burn oil? What are you using anyway. JK of course. Wish I could have made exblo this year.
Still have not seen anyone list 'pressure wash to remove blood and deer guts'

My tranny is toast, I haven't pulled it yet to see the damage. Car will not go in to any gear even with the car off and it will only roll with the clutch pushed in.
When I got home I noticed that the right front 16" SPOON wheel split at one of the spokes. I also had to cut the A/C belt at VIR so I will need a new one of those. At that time I will be replacing all the belts.

As you have probably seen in my thread, I have a lot of work ahead of me...
But, I also have to get a nice dent removed from my driver's door. Something flew up from the road and came straight down on top of me. No kidding it was probably 10ft high in the air before coming down. It barely missed my arm which was hanging out the window. It was almost the size of a crank pulley, whatever it was.
I have the 2nd to 3rd gear grind as well, and my tranny is practically new. If I shift SLOW then it is perfectly fine.

Turn the rotors and check the calipers to make sure they aren't sticking/seized. Burned about 3/4 qt of oil in two days of tracking/driving.
Other than that the pads and tires looks minty fresh. Guess I wasn't pushing hard enough.

Hmmm. It needs gas, tires and brake pads swapped off, and maybe a brake fluid flush. Despite turning 9000rpms, didn't use any oil... thanks Jack!

burned less than a half quart of oil for the entire 10 hour trip down, 2 days on track and the return trip home

The race kaa only burned ~ 3/4 quarts of oil at 129,000 miles.
I went to the hardware store to buy a replacement bolt for the lower alternator position...zip ties were my friend
(no, I didn't go back on the track that way - but I would have if it was a race weekend.)
Hope everyone enjoyed the event!!
