i just put turbo on my car about a month ago and it was running fine but now i have smoke coming out of my dip stick and alot of oil blow by? i also have alot of oil in my throttle body and smoke comes out the exhaust. i did a compression check and the 1st 2 pistons said 60 and the last 2 were about 150 what does all this mean? thanks.

Yeah, it does sound like rings... and if you're not lucky, ring lands (pistons shot...).
A minute amount of 'smoke' coming out of your dipstick is not really cause for panic... if it just looks like fumes, it's just crankcase gasses. But the smoke from the tailpipe isn't too good and a 60 from a comp test is another sign of the dreaded....BLOWN MOTOR.

not to be a dick or anything, but i just don't understand why so many people go and get their cars turboed and haven't got a clue about how it works, how to take care of it, or how to prevent it from blowing up... i highly suggest u do just a litttle bit more research on all this stuff before u try and do this again...

 

Your engine is blown. Low compression on a piston and fumes from crank is bad rings or broken ring lands.

Pull the head and close your eyes, you won't like what you see.

knowledge is always the best weapon against mishaps...i would recommend u get the engine rebuilt and brought back to stock, do more research and educate urself more about turboing a car..hang around the boards more...get a Helms manual ad do some reading in that...read some books on turboing and engine dynamics..make some friends with guys who have done this before...

i am telling u all of this because u don't want this to happen to u again..and if for some reason it did, u could do the work urself and save a crap load of money...u never learn anything by paying other people...

also, u sually the main cause of something like this happening is an untuned air/fuel ratio...next time ur emphasis should be more on getting ur present setup tuned and working properly and not "how can i make my b18b faster by making more boost" as u asked in ur other post....good luck!

 

Uh, why dont you try figuring out what went wrong in the first place and learn some things before you jump into something like this.

 

Detonation probably caused this. Stock ringlands can't take much abuse, they are too small. Get a set of JE pistons, some good aftermarket rods such as Eagle or Crower, and get a standalone such as hondata. Then, don't run it hard UNTIL it is tuned WELL!

 

What caused it ? Basically, not enough fuel... or in other words... BAD or NO tuning. Tuning is ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS the key to getting good, reliable power out of a motor. The previous post pointing you to rebuild, then study, then put on the turbo, or whatever you choose, sounds good... but... in the world of turbo, there is ALWAYS something else to get... so even before you rebuild the internals, read up on it... you might not want to rebuild with stock componenets ! Why ? You prolly broke the ring lands (broke the piston)... a new set of Honda pistons w/ rings: $400 ooor a new set of JE forged pistons (stronger than stock) with a compression of your choice w/ rings: $500 see... $100 would get you more reassurance and exponentially stronger pistons !

On the other hand, if you can find 2 replacement pistons (granted the other 2 are OK), you should just save for an engine management system and run on stock internals... but your boost capability would be limited.

What do you think he is doing posting on here? Trying to figure out why this happened and Im sure looking into preventing it from happening again!!

And how do you know that his rings were not already about to go before he got the turbo? In that case this wouldnt really be his fault.

He asked a question, no need to preach to him on being dumb.
