I did a quick search and haven't come up with anything yet (still searching). Here's my situation. I recently picked up a used/damaged GSR head. Upon inspection, I noticed the bearing cap, #5 intake I believe-distributor side, was stamped PR3. If I'm not mistaken, that's specific to the B16A motor. I know parts are interchangeable here and there, but my question is this: Do the GSR (P72) head and B16A (PR3) head share/use the same exact bearing caps (and Type R (P73) for that matter)? Thanks in advance to who ever has the answer.
Yes and No...The caps are the "same" as far as bolt patterns, but the clearnaces may not be. Like any internally moving part, there is a tolerance between the cam and head. I would plastiguage the cams to see if its within tolerance. If you have a Helms manual there should be a section on cam tolerances. If you know for certain the caps are original to the head its probably safe to say they are good. If you dont know, check the clearance. But yes, most parts from VTEC heads are interchangeable
