whats a best way to store a engine?

Default whats a best way to store a engine?

i have a complete gsr engine swap sitting in my storage room and i dont plan to do the swap until maybe september because i need some money and time to gather all the minor parts.so it is sitting in a room temperature storage.what is the best way to store the engine?drain the motor oil and tranny oil and refill with the fresh fluid or ?

yea, drain fluids and if possible just keep it on a dolly incase flood or something...or keep on a small piece of carpet or something

Or you can get a jack stand and place the motor on there if its already seperated. You can also go to Home Depot or Lowes and get some of that neon green 3M tape and cover all the openings so that nothing finds its way in your motor if you have any open ports etc.

Remove all the spark plugs, squirt some oil in the holes, turn over buy hand, re-install plugs. They sell engine bags you can use as well. I'd do that and you should be good to go.

And yes, drain the fluids.

I always store with about a quart of oil in the pan, ever so often ill rotate the motor by hand to make sure no rust gets on the sleeves.

I think just turning it by hand every once in a while is one of the best things you can do for a sitting motor. I have heard good things about marvel mystery oil in the cylinders for a sitting motor also, it will just burn off when you start it next time.
