HELP ON CHOOSING COILOVERS FOR CRX!!!
Yo! Im about to do some suspension work for the first time on my crx! its a 90 si by the way
I have been driving my car for the past 8 years now on blown bushings and . I daily drive the sucker about 65miles a day. But i also do a lot have heavy canyon running about every other weekend! Im looking for coil overs! KSPORT, FUNCTION & FORM, OR D2 IS MY QUESTION? WHICH ONE!
I know there has been some of ther treds out there but none can really explain to me in fact that one will best suit me! You always get someone complaining about how shitty the ride is and they want comfort? coilovers are ment for racing right? not luxury right? those people should know what they get thems selves into before they bash on products! I know what im investing my money into, I know what i want, I just now have to choose from so many! But i have narrowed it down to the three mentioned above! i just wanna read stuff like, "they rust" "this will break evntoually" "you might want to go with these because these are not as good as so and so due to ______" replys like that please! In am aware that d2 and ksport are about the same correct? if im wrong please correct me
and im not a show person, i believe in performance first! and pardon my spelling if i missed anything! thanks!

I run Ksports on my crx. Never had a problem and they are a beautiful setup.
you can get Ksports with rear LCA's for well under a grand.

I have Tein SS on my car and love the ride, not as stiff as I'd like them to be again they're great on the street.
I'm going to be upgrading here shortly to Omniman's or even thinking about trying the KW Variant 2's (If I have $$$)....It's all a matter of what you're looking for though and what you want to spend.

I have the GC/Koni combo as well and it is an awesome setup. on full soft, rides great for everyday, and on 1/4 turn to full stiff, it's a perfect handler.
You just need to ask, what do you intend to do with the car. I drive my car hard each day and will be entering autox and Roadcourse events, so definately not an upgrade for just looks.

yeah, i do a lot of canyon running, but also am planing to join some events, trying to stay away from the canyons, yeah i know, its a bad habbit! but im just worried about the rust issue if i go with tein as this is my daily driver. on a budget around 800 bucks if not a G so thats why im a little worried about the cheaper brands as i dont know to much about them besides what i have read from a few forums. but none really helped me! i wanna get down to the facts, what works and what doesnt
if you wanna see what type of driving i do, check out youtube, search for 9720680 i should have 4 videos up, maybe that will help you guys more on how i drive

I'm not saying Ksports are crap its just if you look at the response to it they have a lot more problem then say the Koni/GC combo...I've heard horror stories about them cracking and all, but if you have no problems & you like the set up
Best bet OP would probably be Autopower 4pt
Tokico 5 way adjustables and GC...
If you are doing tight canyon runs the Rollbar will do wonders and keep you safe. I suggest purchasing GC used, but buy new shocks. I picked up my Legit GC with sleeves & springs for 50 dollars in great condition. GL

thanks 89ef! i was looking at the illuminas from tokico! my mechanic also said he had a set for 350 with hr's but my main concern is that i got one of those low hanging crossmembers from innovative
i have even bumped that pretty hard in turns with stock suspension
hight is some what of an issue for me too

Lowering the center of gravity though is one of the best things you can do for handling

one of my plans is to change out the inovativ to a full race, if i get $$$ to do so, the way i like my setup is a little soft in the front, lil more stiff in the rear, but still have enough ride hight for enough weight transfer, dont like to drive stiffys! i drove a friends crx with their tein ss, it was on a mid setting but was still not what i was looking for, plus i know the more travel you have on the shocks the better, thats why i think d2's and others simular can be lowered with out sacrificing the travel of the shock
but since i herd about some cracking, thats kinda scary
I have Progress Competetion coilovers and they are definatly the best of the CRX's I've driven. I really think D2's are great, my buddy has them on his Integra. I dislike the KSports. But for your situation I would probably go with D2's

hey 89ef, i was looking at the koni yellow's, i think these are pretty sweet! another question is, since i drive the 405 everyday 5 days week, there are plenty of bumps, dips, and chips in the road that i encounter! you think koni yellows would have to be o.h. say before a d2 coilover? or will d2 go out before the koni's?
that is another concern, im looking for something i can toss in there, take some abuse, and only have to o.h. once in a while, not looking to o.h. every 4 months or so

I drive on the yellows in Louisiana. The roads here SUCK. I have not rebuilt the ones in my streetcar in the last 4 years. Still working like new.
I drive an average of 20k a year.
When it is all over and done with, you will have to make your choice and you make your own conclusions on the performance of any of the setups that have been listed here.

thanks carver! im leaning more towards the koni's now! i was looking at those but i thought coilovers might suit me best since they are suppost to be "the $h!t" but i guess for my needs, 4 years with a out a rebuild sounds pretty darn good to me!
