Default Tanabe DF210s any good?

Are Tanabe DF210s any good? Anyone have/had these springs on their civic?
These are the specs: (taken from HopupRacing)
http://hopupracing.com/tadrfosudfho.html
Civic Coupe/Sedan (ES) 2001-2005 3.0 / 5.0 1.8 / 1.8

Some civics suffer from the rear end sag with lowering springs. I was just wondering
if these are going to sag. I plan on taking out the spare, toolbox, books, and junk to
prevent this from happening.

Are there any springs you would recommend? Preferably a 1.8-2.0" drop.
Sometime in the future I plan on switching these out for GC coilovers w/ Konis.

They shouldn't be all that bad, but I'm curious as to what toolbox and books you are referring to. Removing the spare might get you 20lbs shaved, but that's definitely not going to cause rear end sag.

I have my toolbox probably weighing in at around 10 pounds and college books which
I don't really use..(need to sell them back)

Hmm so no one has these springs?

I bought a pair but decided to go with another setup.. so I sold them to "youngcity" today.

According to Tanabe and other retailers, they are supposedly very high quality coils. Tanabe Japan is noted for their spring machining equipment and process.

http://www.tanabe-usa.com/manufacturing_spring.asp

The DF210 is the "race" version of their spring line, which offers a lower drop than the other 'GF and NF' series in the 210 lineup. For our Civics the drop is 1.8 all around.

I don't think that these would sag as bad as I have seen other springs sag, if at all. When I see other cars sagging it is usually because the springs were designed for 'coupe AND sedan', which are 2 different weights in the rear. Also, the low-ness of the front and rear may be offset (example: I think TEIN S-Tech springs are 1.4" front / 1.6" rear drop?)
http://www.tanabe-usa.com/springs/df210.asp

These retail for about $200, you can find them for $160 shipped unless you get a deal from somebody else (I got rid of them for $130).

In my opinion, these are quality springs for the money you're paying. If I wasn't wrapping adjustable shocks with Skunk2 coilsleeves, the Tanabe DF210 is what I would be compressin' , y0.

Shweet. What other plans do you have for suspension? Hope you're going with aftermarket shocks to handle the drop, OEM won't last long before blowing.

And don't forget the alignment!

Good ruck.

My future setup would be GC coilovers on Koni shocks.
But that's later.. I'm a broke college kid.

Tanabe is not bad at all. Tein is also popular. They have S-Tech and H-Tech line for different setup. I guess Tanabe has similar product lineups too. What do you expect for ride quality?

You may want to check out http://dripp.net/product/catalog.aspx?pv=moc . It should tell you parts that fit your car.

You can eBay a rear camber kit (don't think the fronts are necessary, drops not low enough) for pretty cheap. And I am also pretty sure that the Civic Si and RSX camber kits will work on our cars. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Give it like 2 weeks the drop should get lower.
Also I have a question would you get the alignment right after the springs are
installed or wait until the spring settles and get them aligned.

I have a spring question of my own and I didn't want to hassle anyone with a new topic so I decided to just post on this spring post.

I want to lower my car and was going to either take it to a shop or do it myself (I'll most likely do it myself since I don't have a whole lot of cash to throw around) but my car is currently sitting on 17"x7" Sacchi S25s that are wrapped in 215/45/17 Kuhmo Ecsta ASTs. I also have a system in the trunk of my car and I occasionally carry around four friends. Pics are below.

I was wondering how much I could lower this badboy without it rubbing?

My local shop says I should lower it on Eibach Pro Kit Lowering Springs ($500 for springs and installation) but I was reading that it would only lower my car 1" and I wanted to be lowered more than an inch so that it would be a noticeable difference to the naked eye so I was considering the Tein S-Tech Lowering Springs.

What would be my best bet?

Thanks!

Good insight. The size of tires you are dealing with might handle anywhere from a 1-2" drop, depending on the ofset of the wheel. Other people with a similar wheel/tire setup might be ale to give you some advice, if they have lowered suspension as well.

I am assuming that about a 1.5" drop (presumably on S-tech springs or a similar quality coil) would be sufficient to close that wheel gap a little more, lower the car significantly without worrying about rubbing.

But again, as with any modification.. you should research as much as you can before coming to a conclusion, or trial and error may end up being your route.

I've had the DF210's for about 6 months or so now. I'd say it's a really good spring. So far I haven't gotten sag ***. Just be prepared to buy struts and shocks cause they are going to blow on you. Mine lasted probably a month and they were shot.

I think I put them on around 40k. I'm running KYB-GR2's. Nice setup IMO.

Just thought of this...a friend of mine has the same springs and he went to Car Quest and got these cheaper KYB's. I'd be willing to say that his is a better ride than mine. He paid about 250 for 2 struts/2shocks. You might wanna check that out if money is tight.
