omni coilovers question
I just got the coilover sleeves for my eg and just want to make sure that the coilovers with the longer springs go in the front and the ones with the shorter springs go in the back. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Re: omni coilovers question (jaedaEG)
I thought it was shorter springs in front and longer springs in the back. Maybe I'm wrong, but that's how stock springs are.. and some aftermarket springs as well. Might be different with coilover sleeves tho.

Even on stock and aftermarket springs, longer one's go in the front, shorter one's in the rear. Unless you drive your car backwards.

Re: omni coilovers question (JDM Ninja)
That's what I thought because the motor weight in the front requires the longer springs but we'll see wasup.

Re: omni coilovers question (DLCL)
look at the picture...its obvious the ones on the right are in the back, because of they way they mount to the LCA.
Edit: Just realised you may have the coilover sleeves. In that case, listen to everone else

Which springs go up front? (same thing applies to GC and skunk2 setups)
First, learn how to read the spring rate from your springs. One pair will be stiffer (greater spring rate) than the other. GC normally designs their spring kits so that the front is stiffer. You can follow that, but ERS(springs) are interchangeable. So you CAN put the stiffer in the rear, it will alter the suspension by basically making the rear stiffer, which makes the car less understeer, which is generally more desirable for better handling performance. However, it *makes the rear stiffer*, and you will feel the difference since FWD cars have the center of gravity more towards the front, so the rear wheels rotate further from the CG than the fronts, thus are more sensitive to bouncing motion. Its up to you. I suggest you just follow what GC recommends, but if you are so inclined, cautiously try to swap them and see what you prefer.

The rear upper strut tower on the DA's must be hella high.
But I'm sure they compress much more than the fronts.

Re: omni coilovers question (TallAssFilipino)
i've installed GC coilovers before on a dc2 and apparently the longer ones went to the front but I just wanted to make sure but since there's so much confusion ill just read the spring rates and determine from that. Thanks for everyone's advise.

Keep in mind that there is an A-arm that attaches to the bottem of the ones on the left, which would make them just about even.

Re: omni coilovers question (xerox445)
the length of the spring does not matter look at the shocks meaning:
as you can see in the picture posted there is a ball-socket joint. these belong in the front. and the one that does require a bolt belongs in the back. so dont fool yourself by looking at springs.

Re: omni coilovers question (93allmotoreg)
my bads i thought you meant full coilovers. i was like ok thats just trial and error thing to figure out.
ok for slip overs. the last number on the spring will be the ratio:
8k goes in the front
6k goes in the back .

Re: omni coilovers question (dlcl051702)
for the straight omnipower slipovers thats how it works 8k in fornt 6k in back. if you want ot get into a more race spring you can do that but his question was about a straight slip-over kit from omnipower.
