which is correct? what i've been told to do is, drive through the burnout box to get the slicks wet and stop at the edge of the end of the burnout box. and burnout at the edge of the box at a constant rpm.
or do i burnout IN the burnout box and what gear should i do this in? is burning out in first gear ok?

You should'nt do a burnout in the water box because as you burnout it will fling water into your fender well and then as you go up to stage all of the water will drip on to your tires so then you launch with wet tires. The first procedure you mentioned is what I use.
i go in the water give it a quick scrub, then pull out the box and pull the ebrake and drop it at like 6k or so and just pump it a few times to the rev limiter and let the ebrake go , then stage.
i go through the water box. put it in third gear. rev to 9000 and drop the clutch. after a few seconds, i slowly lift off the throttle till it hooks and pulls me to the beams.

I stradled the water box. I go through enough to "coat" the slicks the stop just past the edge. Lock ebrake, second gear, rev to 5000 and slide out the clutch. Rev to 7000 and when the slicks are ready they will drag the rear through the waterbox. When you feel the rear to start dragging release the ebrake and roll out.
I usually do one dry hop before staging.

My best is a 1.816 on the juice, 1.94 NA.
ALL stock SOHC power + I/H/E

hm ? maybe ill start doing second gear burnouts. gotta get the revs higher to start it then 1st gear? what the advantage to that , i understand b18turbos becuase of the gearing , but why is everyone else doing this?
How DOOO you do a 2nd gear burnout.. DO youjust REV it REAL REAL high and have it in 2nd gear, than just feather it in or do you POP/DROPP it into gear.??
Thanks
Thanks
don't u need more power to do 2nd gear burnouts than say a stock gsr? if i even try to dump it at 4-5k with the ebrake up in 1st...my tires jerk...don't move...and i burn my clutch to hell...so badly i can smell it for like an hr afterwards and i feel horrible for doing that to my car.
my problem is that at the track i race at most of the time my tires just drag behind me, they wont hold the car in place. at every other track than this one, i can actually "hold" my burnout in one spot. kinda weird. what i do is pull in the box, turn the tires over, pull out, lock ebrake, rev to wherever and dump it, moderate the throttle and u know when they r hot enough. i run 555Rs not slicks. ill step up to the big boys next yr if the motor holds up this yr.
use second gear on all cars even if they are stock. Start the burnout in the water and carry the burnout onto the dry area untill you feel it hook up. Its easier on parts to start in the water. Also second gives it more time and a slower rev to hold the car in the burnout longer. Sometimes with slicks too long of a burnout gets the tires too hot and they slicks actually become more slipery(a problem the hoosiers had when they first came out).....Mike
So basically, start out the whole burnout thing right on 2nd gear. Just feather it till you sorta feel it grab and than just punch it....
I hope I am saying it correctly?
