h23 is just a big-*** "LS" motor w/ lots of torque. ima thats a good starting point for a dd to be diff than a b swap. .

I used to have one. If you want a good daily driver just tune it up and get some I/H/E and you'll smoke 90% of civics out there. If you want turbo, then just slap one on, they can handle some good boost. Keep the swap and be different.

You want to be diffrent? First off, dont buy a civic. Secondly, people have been tuning hondas for a long time, there is probally a really good reason why people dont normaly do h23 swaps. Good Luck either way tho.

That's because the aftermarket for the H23 is really overshadowed by the H22 one. I like the H23 better than the 22, one of the few Honda engines with which I'd say "F*** VTEC!." My friend had the H23 Lude, and that thing was SHOCKINGLY fast. I say keep it, use your Honda hookups to restore that engine, and tune her up. You'll really enjoy that engine if you take care of it.

if you go with an H22 head, you might as well build the H23 bottom end or just buy a complete H22. Reason being the H23s are not balanced from the factory and will have serious bearing wear issues if you rev that car to H22 limits. You'd either have to send off the crank and get it balanced or opt for an H22 crank and internals. H23 and H22 blocks are identical except for a plugged oil orifice and the H23's stroked, unbalanced crank.

My 2900lb H23 prelude smoked four mustangs, three of which had V8s (is a King Cobra a V8?)...but that's not saying much. Basically, you don't need to rev those motors to get power out of them.

Trust, it's still worth taking care of.
