Knock coming from tranny, just replaced alot of stuff and still knocking.
I just replaced my clutch disc, pressure plate, flywheel, through-out bearing, and pilot bearing. The noise was there before I replaced everything and it's still there.
It's definately a knocking sound and it starts after I crank the engine and release the clutch pedal. When I press the clutch pedal in the noise slowly goes away until I release it again. Going through the gears the knock gets faster and faster with the engine's rpm until I press the clutch in to change gears, then it starts again when I release the clutch pedal again. It does this in every gear and it's getting louder and louder.
Any ideas? I just took the tranny back out and it's sitting in my floor waiting to be broken into. Just looking for some ideas before I start tearing into a tranny for the first time.

That's what I was thinking but I was kind of wondering if anyone had this specific problem before so I would know what to look for when I tear the tranny apart.
i would bet money that the input shaft bearing went bad. either way, once you get inside, youll see. youll have to pull the main shaft and counter shaft out with the shift forks as one unit to change the input shaft bearing.. but it is suprisingly easy. if you want to change all the bearings in your trans, it would probably only cost about $200. as long as the gears arent chewed up, you will probably be fine.
input shaft bearings are notoriously bad on the hydro d-series, cable seem to fail at a little slower rate. other bearings to look at are the differential bearings, as those have a "high" failure rate on the si 4.25 final drive transmissions. either way, pull it apart with help from a manual.. and post pics of the carnage

That's the kind of response I was looking for. It's a 91 cable Si tranny with 210k miles. I may end up replacing all of the bearings and the diff. according to how everything looks. Thanks
